No one who writes well won't ask any of their friends to vote!
They vote by themselves, if they feel.
And moreover, your answer to my question can be ruled out cos if someone gets non legitimate votes, his fair play points will surely be 5 as he'll be the SOTM winner.

I would like to explain this as well,

How does SOTQ works?

1) The top 3 stories from the fairplay points would be nominated for SOTQ poll + the story that wins the playoff poll.

2) The idea here would be to put up a poll for the first few days of the voting week with all the stories in SOTM over the last three months other than the top 3, and the winner would also go in to the overall poll, so if a good story just misses out on making it into the top 3, members could nominate it in. This poll duration would be for three days - Mon, Tue, Wed.

i.e.

a) After three SOTM ( say, Jan, feb, march ) contests, the top three stories based on the summation of fairplay points would be nominated for SOTQ by default.
b) why it is called fairplay? Because, it serves as the points for the writer where he has been fair enough in applying his consistency/efforts for a month. If the same consistency is maintained, his story would be still nominated to next month's poll as well. Example, a top class effort can win successive SOTM contests and would be having a good lead over his fellowmates with 10 points.

c) So, just the top 3 stories can get User title and huge vcash? NO! Even the other participants in SOTM have their chance to enter their stories. Yes, its WILDCARD/PLAYOFF round. Other participants of the SOTM would be nominated in a poll to select the fourth entrant of SOTQ.
d) With having 4 top stories that have passed various tight competition/contests, it's time to have a go at the user title - SOTQ.

The above things are also considered/decided based on certain bad memories like, writers with efforts getting just ONE vote. In all angles, our main objectives are to,

1) Promote the efforts of writers
2) Recognize them
3) Motivate them for consistency

You can still ask for any doubts in any of the above things mentioned

All this will be possible if we have stories running for atleast 4 or 5 months without break.
Cos the Wild Card or Play Off participants will be less, cuz many who start for a silly title will stop their stories once they lose in a months SOTM.

One idea,who ever stops his story after loosing SOTM and any mod thinks that has been done intentionally,that member should not be allowed to start any story for at least 4 months as a punishment.

SOTM is not meant for the title anymore. It's just a check of the current status of writers compared to other stories & to promote their innovativeness within SOTQ and get the title.

Least criteria for SOTQ - Two stories with consistent top class efforts & I am sure there are more than two at present.

It is sort of strange that you call it silly. I've seen some profiles in which you were asking to get back your 'silly title'. Anyways, I shall leave that.

If stories are good enough they will run for long period. If the writers are good enough they will keep up with it. Best examples I can give are of Trev's story, Surender's story, Tom's story, etc.

Thing that will make people write long stories is that they them self must enjoy the story. If they are enjoying the story then that story can make other enjoy it.

True. But the fact is that most of the members promise in the starting of their story that they are enjoying their story but after sometime they say a mod to close their story because they don't have much interest in it after sometime. I hope that new rules will bring changes to this forum story writers and some great writers will come forward.

I've seen some profiles in which you were asking to get back your 'silly title'.

Huh. actually, King Cricket took it out as it was a communication Gap between me and Him.
I don't like the basic usertitle "Chairman Of Seletors", for which, I asked King cricket to take out the Text "Chairman of Selectors". I haven't explained him properly, which resulted in taking out the "SOTM". So, I wanted to have a look of my profile with "National Board President" and SOTM combined or Alone with SOTM, which din't come true. Thats the main reason I asked in some VM boxes about titles.

Can someone tell me how to do an index at the start of your thread, where the links go to single posts? I have experimented and quoted others' posts to see how they do it, but I can't do it myself.

If someone could explain it clearly, I think it would be a worthwhile addition to the "Story Forums Tips" thread, as it is something that many writers want to do, and makes for enjoyable reading.
