Struggling with Footwork

I'm struggling with footwork too .
Can't connect ball wen they bowl short balls . , tried custom sliders , medium , hard in batting difficulty . Not getting hand to it ,. Ashes cricket 17 still in mind timing is getting difficult in 2019 game.. any suggestions guys ?
What will it do if I off the footwork settings ?? Will it help ?
