I believe they are doing this because they are touching down in sydney. Plus for sydney-siders to farewell there local hero. It would be good if they could visit every state in aus, they have a 3 month break.

Where did they have the last two celebrations?

I think I remember them having it in Melbourne in 1999, but I'm not 100% sure.
