Symonds seen as spin twin

I think we outta' schedule Matt so he can bat in a nets session against Tait & then we'll see what he thinks. :P

Tait bowled alright in the WC, not his best though.

I think Tait's good, I just don't think he's Australia good yet. He has time on his side though. No one's insanely good when they first start out.

Always rated Symonds ability as a spinner.
Dunno why he's been bowling medium pace in the test matches when he could have men round the bat and take wickets with offspin.

He generally bowled medium pace in tests because of the strength of Warne. And for the record, he is a medium pacer who is capable of bowling 140 k/h. He was our second fastest bowler in the Ashes (behind Lee).

Never remembered him crossing 140km/h. I know he can sometimes push 130km/h but that is usually his limit.

Hmm...I doubt it Dean. I wish it was true. But he doesnt have the run up or the follow through to bowl that quick. He is definetly has the strength to do it!

Yes well it was his strength that did it. He didn't do it consistently, but he definitely did do it.

What?
A spin twin? No way. Sure he can partner McGill, but no way can he be considered a TWIN, such as Harbajan for Kumble.
I'd much rather think that Clarke and Symonds-both part timers- work on there spin a bit and share a side with McGill but to be considered a frontline batsmen....eww.
And Symonds is one of those really versatile ODI allrounders-Fielding is fantastic-batting is great- bowls spin AND Medium pace-Something that barley ANY players do in the game. Having that option and judging the conditions and such is such a help!

well i have seen symonds get some rip on the ball in the ashes and i think he got the wicket of flintoff, but i think that was with medium pace.

Yeah it was medium pace, Flintoff was caught on the crease and was caught at slip.

He's certainly a better spinner than a medium pacer.

He's been recognised as having 3 bowling strategies; long run-up medium-pace, off spin and short run-up medium pace, the latter two being interchangeable. In that sense, the seam bowling definitely improves his off spin.
