I assume @Neptune can proceed with his double pick.

Hmmm... this is quite a few missed picks in a row. I shall give it until tomorrow before I start messaging people

Have a double pick now, which is handy.
For my first player, will go with Shane Warne, who was not just an excellent all round spinner, but he showed up in the knockouts of World Cups.
For the second pick, will go with Mark Waugh who was arguably the best ODI opener of his time, and has much better stats compared to his peers. Also gives me a bowling option

Neptune's XI

3. :wi: :bat: Brian Lara

okay how did we all drop the ball so hard

We're all idiots, that's why. After Murali gets picked in practically any Draft, the next obvious spinner is Warne. We're just dumb and let almost 4 entire Rounds go by before that happened.

But I'll stick with the Aussies and pick another member of that team that dominated the early 2000s of ODI cricket. You need an explosive batsman at the top of the order in ODIs, and since Gilly was taken, I'll take his partner in crime, Matthew Hayden. If it's a tournament, you bet that Haydos will come big.

@Akshay.

Warne for all his talents did not quite bring his Test skill to ODIs which does mean that he tends to go under the radar in most discussions. I do think the current era would suit his style a lot more and he would be easily better.

Also I did drop a not so subtle hint about him in one of my picks.

A cursory glance at the other spinners of the day reveals just how far ahead he was of his competitors with Murali being the only giant that could stand besides him. I‘m not even kidding, between 1990 and 2005 only three spinners averaged 25 or less (the same count for pacers would be in double figures) and multiple regulars and arguably stars would average in the 30s.

;)
