Aliadi?re returns to the Premiership

J?r?mie Aliadi?re has made the move from Middlesbrough to Derby for ?6.25million. Aliadi?re had a fantastic season at the Riverside last season, but has decided to move his career forward and help UEFA Cup hopefuls Derby County.
The French striker has played all around Britain, but was yet to get his career going until he was signed by Middlesbrough in 2007. Last season Aliadi?re netted 21 goals in 39 matches, netting 15 in the Championship.
It seems Aliadi?re's big motive for moving was due to the fact that Middlesbrough were unable to gain promotion back to the Premier League. With Derby securing European football after their surprising League Cup victory over Newcastle last season.
Derby County manager Billy Davies told reporters that he was delighted to have Aliadi?re at the club, and that he felt he added much more depth to an already very strong strike force.
"J?r?mie is a quality player. He has pace, technique, awareness and great finishing abilities. Those are fantastic qualities to have as a striker. He was brilliant for Middlesbrough last season and we hope he can continue that sort of form for us. Our attack really is looking strong this season, and I really think we can hold our own in Europe."
Aliadi?re is also delighted at joining Derby, and hopes that he can help take the club to greater things. "I am very happy at the moment. I enjoyed my time at Middlesbrough and Gareth Southgate was a massive help. But now I need to move on, and Derby are a great club on the rise. I am looking forward to playing in Europe, something I've not done before. There are some great strikers at the club. Blas P?rez, Robert Earnshaw, Maxi L?pez. I look forward to challenging for places with them. I can't wait for the new season to start!"
Aliadi?re's ?6.25million move knocks the club's overall expenditure to ?15.25million after the signings of Wisbell Isea and Mark Wilson. Derby really are trying to build a solid base from which they can mount a charge for the top half this season.
