Emmanuel Adebayor will be Ghana's main threat in Group G
Ghana drawn alongside Emmanuel Adebayor's Togo in Group G for qualification to the 2012 African Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The runners-up of this year's African Cup of Nations, Ghana, have been handed a tough draw for the 2012 tournament as they will have to beat Togo to qualify. They sit in Group G with ties aganst Burundi and Madagascar but Togoan striker Adebayor will be the Black Stars' main threat.
Other African powerhouses Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Nigeria and Egypt face little threat; the highest ranked opposition comes in the form of 77th ranked Burkina Faso who will face neighbouring country Ivory Coast.
Asamoah Gyan makes it five goals in his last four games for Ghana
Ghana began their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win over Madagascar, courtesy of a hat-trick from striker Asamoah Gyan.
Madagascar failed to cause an upset in the opening game of the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches. Gyan scored three times to round off an impressive display from the Ghanaian front men.
Gyan gave Ghana the lead just before half time with a powerful header from 5 yards out. However, Madagascar levelled ten minutes into the second half. Robert Mwila curled in a free kick from the edge of the area to send the majority of the 22,000 fans in attendance into raptures.
Normality was restored by Gyan on 69 minutes after he turned his marker swiftly and fired a low right footed shot past the sprawling keeper.
With 12 minutes remaining Gyan completed his first international hat-trick. The striker picked up the ball on the half-way line and used his pace to beat the last two defenders. With the goal keeper to beat he calmly placed the ball into the far corner with the outside of his boot.
The win was secured four minutes later by substitute Matthew Amoah to hand Ghana 3 points.
Despite the convincing victory it won't be Ghana who top the group tonight following Togo's comprehensive 4-0 demolition of Burundi.
A hip injury forced Adebayor to watch on from the stands as his side were well beaten
Ghana continued their brilliant form with an emphatic victory over Togo, who missed striker Emmanuel Adebayor because of a hip injury that will leave him out for two months.
Ghana marched to two wins from two as goals from Ahmed Barusso, Asamoah Gyan and Eric Addo handed them a 3-1 win in Accra. Togo could only muster one shot on goal, a penalty scored by captain Dar? Nibomb?. In contrast, Ghana shot 27 times indicating that Togo were lucky to hold a 3-1 scoreline.
It took just 24 seconds for Ghana to open the scoring as Barusso intercepted a poor pass from Tidjani and smashed the ball passed Agassa in the Togo goal from a tight angle.
With the half hour mark approaching Gyan continued his impressive goal scoring form with a superb individual effort. The striker held off four defenders before using the outside of his boot to put the ball through the keeper's legs from an acute angle.
Central defender Addo bagged Ghana's third with a thunderous shot on 34 minutes as it looked like Ghana would come close to breaking double figures.
However, Togo were able to withstand Ghana's pressure and managed to win themselves a penalty. De Souza played through Pedomey who proceeded to charge down on goal. His lack of pace allowed the Ghanaian defenders to catch up and, before the ball could be cleared by Barusso, John Mensah needlessly clipped Pedomey giving the referee no choice but to award the spot kick. Nibomb? stepped up and placed the penalty in the opposite direction of Kingson's dive to hand Togo a consolation goal.
The last 30 minutes continued in the same vain as the first hour, but Ghana were unable to find their fourth goal of the game. Asamoah Gyan picked up his second man of the match award in as many games as Ghana lead Group G with 7 goals to their name.
The other game in the group saw Madagascar and Burundi draw 1-1. Ghana will now have a five month break before their next qualifying match with Burundi.
Matthew Amoah scored his 14th international goal to secure a 2-0 win over Tunisia

With seven minutes remaining Matthew Amoah found the back of the net to secure victory for Ghana, who have now scored 9 goals in their last three games against African opposition.
Once again Ghana made it past 20 shots for the game, showing their utter dominance in the last third of the pitch. Possession was also stacked heavily in favour of the visitors, with Ghana holding onto the ball for 63% of the match.
Ghana now go back to playing African Cup of Nations qualifiers with a game against Burundi next month. Their next scheduled match after that will be Madagascar in June, although there is space for a friendly match in between.
