playing india in the heart of kolkata. i will download some indian crowd files soon so i can enjoy a really heated contest. maybe mcgill and warne will spin off together on a dust bowl. that would be great viewing i feel. this is the match i had picked out early on to be the big challenge

Use Tutsi's patches for the India matches..

You will really start to get a feel of the real India-Australia exciting clashes!!!

Yes it is always a challenge to play on the subcontinental wickets, and nothing beats the Eden Gardens in this matter.

But I am confident that Australia will come out of both the matches (Odi v zim and test v ind) victorious.

I put my money on India to win the match against Australia.

Bhajji and Kumble will spin us through!

Australia arrive in Zimbabwe

Australia arrived back in Zimbabwe for the 2nd time in 3 weeks for the one off one day international at Harare. When asked about the makeup and the performance of the team currently, coach John Buchanan appeared less than confident in the teams overall peformance, highlighting that there are only a smal group of players currently peforming to their potential.

We will probably look to go in with a side similar to the one that played against south africa. We did well there, however Michael Hussey will come into the team to bat at number 7 and Darren Lehman will sit it out. Games like this give us a good opportunity to fine tune our lineup and Michael has proven himself before and we definatly look towards him as a player of the future.

As to our peformances, to be honest i havent been overly impressed. It seems unbelievable to knock the current group of guys as we have one 3 test matches and 1 one day international but if you really have a good look we have really relied on three batsmen (Ponting, Clarke and Gilchrist) and 3 bowlers (McGrath, Warne and Gillespie). Our biggest problem is in the top order, its something that will have to improve otherwise we put ourselves in a lot of danger. And we are still waiting to see the best from Brett Lee. So when this team comes good it will be a great display but at the moment we are still searching for the best guys to do the job.

Introduction and Pitch Report

Richie Benaud - Welcome to Harare again for this limited overs match between Australia and Zimbabwe. I have with me here Bill Lawry as we have a look over these two sides, Bill how do you think this one will pan out?

Bill Lawry - Yes good morning ladies and gentlemen. Having a look at the lineups for both sides, you find it difficult to fault the Australians. I cant see a way through that side for Zimbabwe who have suffered significantly through their deapth this year. Australia for me Rich, very hard to beat.

Benaud - Yes i couldnt agree with you more Bill. Well lets go down to the pitch now with Tony Greig for the toss of the coin and the pitch report.

Greig - Thank you Rich and welcome to his sunny day in Harare. We have a huge crowd on hand for an exciting match. Hopefully for the viewers we will see some fireworks from Ponting and company. So to the pitch now and it looks very flat. Not alot of grass on it and i dont think the new ball would do as much as one may hope. However because it is a day match and it is an early start we may find it swing around a little bit early on. I think a total of around 250-260 would be strong on this wicket.
News in from the toss of the coin is that Ricky Ponting has won the toss and have elected to bowl. I have with me here Ricky Ponting, Ricky what made you choose to bowl here?

Ponting - I think because of the fact that we are starting at 11.00 here makes it possible for a bit of movement early on. I would like to just give our pacemen a good workout without pressure of protecting a target. And that will let our top order have an idea of what we have to chase.

Greig - Well there it is Richie, Ricky Ponting has won the toss and has elected to field. All in all it should be an exciting day of cricket. Back to you in the studio

Below - Lineups for both sides along with the view of the wicket from Harare

Zimbabwe 7/215 (50.0 Overs)

Having being sent in by Australian captain Ricky Ponting earlier on, Zimbabwe openers Ebrahim (27) and Marillier (76) started very strongly for the home side. The pair put on 75 for the first wicket before Gillespie snared Ebrahim, caught behind by Gilchrist. Marillier was the lone hand in the Zimbabwe search for runs. His 76 off 121 balls forming a strong core for players such as Taibu (24) and Blignaut (14*) to make contributions to the total. Zimbabwe in the end failed to score at a quick enough run rate to manage a 250+ scoreline necessary for competition here in Harare.

Jason Gillespie continued his hot form with the ball for the visitors, claiming 3/36 (10.0) to take best figures for the match. Again Brett Lee went wicketless, increasing pressure on the young quick ahead of the Kolkata blockbuster test against india next week.

Below -
Zimbabwe scorecard - abley lead by Marillier, Zimbabwe again couldnt make the most of a promising start.
Australia bowling scorecard - Gillespie doing the damage.
Australia enter the field - Australia wearing the 2000 kit.

Australian Innings - Chasing 216 (4.32 per over)

Needing 4.32 per over on their quest for a second straight ODI victory, Australian openers Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist seemed in good touch early on against some very good bowling from Heath Streak and Douglas Hondo. Gilchrist appeared the most aggressive, going over the top of the infield on his way to 31 from 48 balls before he was caught in the deep off the first ball of the 14th over off the bowling of Streak.

In an amazing over of play, Hayden (19) continued his patchy form when he was bowled 2 balls later in the over from a great delivery from Streak and Ponting was out 3 balls after, trapped plum LBW for 1. Australia falling from a commanding position at 0/55 from 14 overs to be 3/58 at the end of the 15th.

This brough Damien Martyn and Andrew Symonds together and the pair put on a sensible display of One Day cricket. Through some good hitting and intelligent running, Martyn and Symonds were able to bring australia back into a strong position. Unfortunaly Martyns run ended with his score on 34 (36) with Australia sitting evenly balanced at 4/118.

However the introduction of spinner Raymond Price proved to be the difference in the match. Allowing Symonds to launch 4 massive 6's to put his team in a match winning position. Symonds celebrating his 50 off just 51 balls. Clarke managed to casually push the singles while Symonds knocked off the runs like clockwork. Price was able to trap Clarke infront for 21 but this only brought Michael Hussey to the crease, who showed his worth with a simple yet floorless 11 to back up Symonds (73 from 84 balls faced). In the end Australia coasted to a comfortable victory on the back of Symonds knock, however many feel that the mind was allready ahead to the indian test match.

Below:
- Hayden continues poor form, bowled by Streak
- Martyn is caught from a superb catch off the bowling of Price
- Zimbabwe through themselves around hoping for a chance at a win
