Great start by India, AUS just 62 runs at lunch

yeh playing with boss's v3 patch makes it so difficult to score runs. the spin is out of this world early on

yes thanks very much boss. ive allready posted my thanks and that in boss's thread but it is a great patch

Yeah a good start by India. But Australia have lost just one wicket, so its important India pick up another 3-4 wickets in the 2nd session.

I would the balance slightly rests with India though only a single wicket means two good batsman are in the crease now. India should pick up at least 3 - 4 wickets next session to gain hold of the Aussies in this test!

Match Report - Tea Day 1

Australian pair Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer took Australia into a strong position at tea on day 1 of the TVS Victor test match against India at Eden Gardens today. Slow but stable knocks from Langer 59* (159 balls) and Ponting 57* (133 balls) lead Australia to be 1/141 in extremely trying conditions.
Langer and Ponting did well to withstand early pressure from strike bowlers Pathan, Balaji, Singh and Kumble on a wicket that proved to be playing at mixed paces and turning quite severly. Suprisingly Indian captain Surav Ganguly turned to his pacemen Pathan (1/48) and Balaji (0/54) rather than use spinners Singh and Kumble however the tight bowling allowed India to still retain a strong position going into the tea break.

Langer hundred lifts Aussies - Match Report Day 1

The TVS Victor test match between Australia and India was delicatly placed after the conclusion of the first days play from Eden Gardens, Kolkata, today. A return to form from western Australian opener Justin Langer 103* and a stablising 72 from captain Ricky Ponting helped Australia to be 3/233 when stumps were drawn in Kolkata.

On what proved to be a war of mental strength and attrition, India may lay claim to the honours thanks to a late comeback, courtousy of wickets to Harbajan Singh, who claimed Ponting (72) and Damien Martyn (0). Another failure from Martyn has increased pressure on his place in the team, and also left his side in a delicate position of 3/167. However youngster Michael Clarke (26) batted very well as the wicket began to flatten out and the old ball failed to turn.

Langer made the most of the conditions as he reached his 100 off a lengthy 250 balls. Showing both gritt and determination to lead his team as the plucky Australian batted through the entire days play.

Wickets will be extremely important for India as they are faced with two batsman looking in very good form. More coverage will continue tomorrow thanks to the team at TenSports.

I think batting is extermely tough out thee i think, whats the weather there buddy is it too hot and how is the humidity, the AUS should really feel the pressure

yes hot and humid champ. thats why langers 100 has been such a tough innings. great match unfolding though

yes langer is batting very well but boss's v3 patch is making batting so difficult. the indian bowlers are bowling very defensively and not looking to take wickets, but they also dont want runs scored off them at the moment the match is crawling by at about 2.8 an over. not exciting to play or watch

Thats a very good 100 from Langer, considering the tough conditions. Punter again played well for his 72. It will be interesting to see how the match goes from here.
