Did you watch the massacre of England at hands of the Aussies. Never count Aussies out. Pakistan are the Dark horse of this event, not the favorites.

I think australia have to be reckoned with. they won't go down limply in any match, they'll fight to the end and they do have world beaters in their team.

Sri Lanka have a very balanced team but for them to be favourites they'll need a couple of guys to play at their very best. if sanga or jaya can hit top form and malinga and murali bowl to their best ability they have a great chance.

I'd give India the favourites tag really. bowling is a little weak but that just simplifies things for them, they just have to go out and try and put huge targets on the board and chase down anything. they have the line up to do that.

Yeah, don't get why people are writing the Australians off. They might have had a poor Ashes series but they are still at the apex in the ODIs. Loss of Hussey will surely hurt but at the same time will give opportunity to the likes of Ferguson to prove himself.

India and Sri lanka are favorites . From there its very open with any of aus,sa,pakistan, england and maybe nz able to put 3 great games together to win the wc. That's basicly what it takes, most if not all the test playing nations will get to the quarters and then its up to how can play 3 great games in a row.

about a month, maybe 2 months, ago Sri Lanka was everyones "dark horse" but now they've talked them up so much and convinced themselves of their case so that they've jumped up to everyones second favourite.

don't get me wrong, I'd love them to win it, but all that's changed in the last couple of months is they've been over-analysed.

Srilanka, Australia, South Africa are favorites for me because of their well balance sides.
After that every team has weaknesses. Indian is probably the most hyped up team which is adding extra pressure on the players to perform. Fact is that their batting is weak without Sachin and in bowling their is nobody to support Zaheer and If they do win this WC, it will really be due to Sachin's magic.
Pakistan is the "dark horse". They have a good balance line up but still their batting can collapse on any given day.

No, it isn't. It is actually the best batting lineup on paper.

In such tournaments the only thing which work for you is your form and ability to perform well under any condition. I was saying "weak" in this respect. Only Sachin has the ability to perform under any condition rest always relay on conditions to suit them.
Ghambir is in worse form and so are Raina and UV. Sehwag is batting very well but he needs a partner in top order that can support him to launch his assault. Dhoni is not the Dhoni who can bat under pressure. So the fact is that their batting is weak without Sachin.

Well even the rest of the batsman has ability to play in different conditions. Its just that without Sachin they all fell apart. Sachin bats longer and guides the other batsman. So he forms the nucleus of our batting. Also he gives adding confidence to the batsman.

You base it all on one match? They were without Sachin for such a long time and they did perform. Gone are the days when one fell and others will follow.
