Australia has today announced the 12 man squad for the 1st 3 Mobile Ashes test, starting on the 23rd November with Jason Gillespie staying in the squad after a stellar performance in Bangladesh, it had been rumoured that he (Jason Gillespie) would be dropped but new coach, Tobie Chapman has convinced selectors to pick him.

Match Drawn
MOTM: Chris Read

Australia and England came into this match both wanting a win, Australia looked good before losing Langer at 48, Matt Hayden and Ricky Ponting then put on a partnership of 86 before Ponting went, Hayden and Hussey then went out quickly before Damien Martyn and Adam Gilchrist came together for a partnership of 93, it looked over after that but the tail wagged, Lee and Stuart Clark coming together for a handy partnership of 55, finishing on 327.

England came in full of confidence but it was short-lived with Jason Gillespie picking up Cook for 2, the line and length of McGrath soon got both Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen back in the pavilion before Gillespie removed Bell for 3, Trescothick and Flintoff looked good but Flintoff went out for 14, Read then joined Trescothick and the put together a huge partnership of 167, changing the momentum back to England, Read finally fell for 109, Englands tail did little other than Jimmy Andersons fighting 18 with Marcus Trescothick being the final wicket to fall out for 138, leaving their total at 348.

Hayden and Langer looked the pair as they came onto the turf and it showed, with both belting the ball around before Hayden went for 35, ending a 68 run partnership, Captain Ricky Ponting couldn't stay but Martyn could with a 99 run stand between them before he left for 41, then Langer and Mike Hussey combined with a 90 run stand with Justin Langer finally leaving after a magnificent 142 off 168, Adam "Gilly" Gilchrist then came in but didn't stay for long, before Shane Warne came in, and what a partnership Hussey and Warne put on, 114 runs in the partnership with Warne leaving after a great innings of 48, with only 5 4's, Lee and Gillespie both wen in quick succession before Clark showed some fight, but he went out, now Glenn McGrath joined Hussey at the crease, hitting a 4 along the way before Mike Hussey went out after a magnificant 149 off 280, leaving the score at 462.

England came in needing 442 to win, with 4 sessions left - not an easy task against the Australians, the pressure showed with Strauss and Cook once again failing, the top 5 failed but a big partnership of 145 between Flintoff and Chris Read, who was playing the match of his life saved England but when Lee got Flintoff it looked over, Giles went soon but James Anderson stayed there for 12 runs off 75 balls in a gutsy effort leaving the Australians frustrated, they survived till the end of the day with Read unbeaten on 122, the score 7/317, leaving the match drawn in a run-feast.

Chris Read was deservedly named Man Of The Match for his 109, 122* and his fine keeping.

Come on, the Aussies should of won that Match. And Warney for the worst player of the match award, shocking stuff :p

wow Read scoring centuries in both innings, amazing!
I vote for Warney to get WPOTM

The only time Warney deserves WPOTM is when he can last a session without his mobile phone. Gotta give it to Alastair Cook on the basis of being English. :P

Keep it going Tobes, interesting story here.
