Is it official yet? Seem like Biden has pulled it off.

Wonder what Trump might achieve via the legal route..

For those unfamiliar

To recap: The president scared his own voters away from voting by mail, resulting in lopsided Democratic margins when those ballots were counted; and Republican lawmakers in several key states refused to allow those ballots to be counted early, resulting in delays that created an early mirage of the president winning because the votes tallied first were those most favorable to him. Trump has good reason to resent those mail votes: They made the ballot box more accessible; they created the illusion that victory was possible; then they shattered that illusion in agonizing fashion, every incremental dump of returns amounting to a slow twist of the knife.

Now Democrats need to win the two Senate elections in Georgia in January to take complete control of the government, otherwise the Senate Republicans would block Biden's agenda for at least the next two years. Gonna be tough, but doable.[DOUBLEPOST=1604774427][/DOUBLEPOST]@asprin i suggest you don’t settle the event just yet, until the count is totally completed

It is over!! Joe Biden has been announced as the President-Elect. Both Pennsylvania and Nevada have been called (i.e. won) by Biden. And that takes him to 279. And that does not yet take into account, Arizona where Biden is leading significantly and Georgia which is going to go for a recount but Biden is again leading Georgia too.

If both Arizona and Georgia are given to Biden (post the recounts in Georgia, which is likely since recounts normally bring an extra few hundreds of votes and not enough to flip the current lead margin of Biden), then Biden ends up with 306 electoral votes. The Jan 5 runoff elections in Georgia will determine the Senate majority. If Democrats can clinch those two spots and get to 50, it will be significant as a 50-50 deadlock at the Senate makes Kamala Harris (winning Vice President) as the tie breaker when it comes to passing reforms.

How far will this voter fraud thing be allowed to go: it seems that Trump and His Clan Of Apocalyptic Feckwits are more than capable of rigging fraudulent things to get their way. Unless powers stand up and resist this it could get very nasty.

Voter fraud thing isn't getting very far because there's no evidence and courts chucking out the cases being brought by Trump campaign.

Doesn't mean there aren't other avenues. Depends what lengths Trump and his stooges will be prepared to go.

I think they are just catering to their following, the extreme part of it: already planting the seeds for 2022 and 2024. I hope they squeeze the feckers dry once Biden has some actual clout.

Based on the overall feel here in USA, what Trump seems to be doing is just to rally his base around him and project him as the guy who did not lose but as someone from whom victory was snatched. There is almost no chance in the Republicans overturning the results in their favor. The margin of victories for Biden in the crucial states are pretty significant and there is no possibility for Trump to reverse it. Even if he pushes all of them into a recount, he could gain a few hundred votes only (most likely).

He could also be doing this for the Senate runoffs in January. If Dems win those two Senate seats that are heading for a runoff, then they tie the Senate thereby making Kamala Harris (ruling VP and a Democrat) the tie breaker. It is massive and with a House majority to also have on their side, Democrats have no blockers in passing reforms that Republicans don't agree to. Trump will have to keep his rhetoric until the runoffs are done and Republicans claim those two seats, giving them a slim majority in the Senate and thats where it becomes challenging for Biden and team to pass significant reforms without using the executive order power (which opens them up for lawsuits).

Yeah that's the way I am reading it too: a lot fluff and bluff to give Donald's ego the possibility of finding some place in this universe that is already way too small for him. Troubling times seeing the absolute extremism that is allowed to rally around the republican flag. I remember when being a republican was more than just being a pissed up yob with curry all over him staggering out of a landscaping store he thought was a dildo shop.
