Chelsea hold nerve in a brilliant encounter

ChelseaCommShield_L.jpg

Chelsea lift the Community Shield.

Chelsea held their nerve in the penalty shoot out to come out victorious in their Community Shield match with Man Utd. Man Utd took the lead early on in the game and it wasn't long before they doubled their lead. Man Utd made it a shocking 3-0 still in the first half. Late in the first half, Chelsea brought on back. In the second half Chelsea completely changed and brought the game back to 3-3. Man Utd took the lead again with eight minutes to go but in the last few minutes Chelsea equalised again.

Man Utd took the lead in the nineth minute with a stunning Cristiano Ronaldo strike. The defence was to blame for the whole attack however. John Terry's clearance went straight to John O'Shea. O'Shea passed it on to Wayne Rooney. Neither O'Shea nor Rooney were stopped and they carried on the attack. Rooney played a ball through to Ronaldo who beat the defender with his pace and smashed the ball into the top corner.

In the twenty first minute, Petr Cech kicked the ball outfield after apparrently averting the danger. However, Man Utd pushed forward with Michael Carrick. Carrick played a wonderful ball through to Carlos Tevez and Tevez took the ball at his feet. It was poor defending by Ricardo Carvalho that led to Tevez getting the ball. Carvalho recovered well and thought he'd pressurised Tevez enough but Tevez' shot was saved but not held by Cech. Tevez ran up for the rebound and duly finished to double Man Utd's lead.

Man Utd scored again in the thirty third minute with Nemanja Vidic. Ryan Giggs' corner came curling in from the left hand side and Vidic leaped into the air to get his head on the ball. It went firing into the top right corner.

Chelsea scored in the fourtyth minute with Tommaso Rocchi in a resiliant attack. Salomon Kalou beat Patrice Evra on the left hand side and put in a wonderful cross. It was headed by Frank Lampard but the shot was stopped by Edwin Van der Sar. Lampard went for the rebound but it was saved again. Malouda struck the ball from outside the box and it was deflected off of Andriy Shevchenko and hit the post. Shevchenko pulled the ball across into the centre of the box and Tommaso Rocchi finished the attack by tapping it into the back of the net.

Eighteen minutes into the second half, in the fifty third minute, Chelsea struck again. An excellent move was finished by none other than Tommaso Rocchi. It was slick and elegant passing and moving which eventually led to Rocchi firing in with the final touch. However, replays show that Michael Carrick was correct in his accusations in saying that Rocchi was offside.

Chelsea levelled the game in superb fashion. Juliano Belletti got on the scoresheet for the blues wonderfully. Tommaso Rocchi had the ball at his feet on the wing but played it back to Joe Cole. Cole put the ball through perfectly to Juliano Belletti who, at such an acute angle, hammered the ball into the back of the net.

There was another twist in the tale but not even the final one. Juliano Belletti was too far forward to be marking Ryan Giggs who cut inside to the box and pulled it back to Rooney. Rooney smashed the ball into the back of the net, an unstoppable shot. Wayne Rooney kissed his badge and ran to his fans after scoring what he thought was the last goal of the match.

Chelsea levelled the game with six minutes to go. Edwin Van der Sar was to blame for his terrible clearance. The ball went straight to Shaun Wright-Phillips. He took it forward then crossed it towards the far post. Claudio Pizzaro hit the ball perfectly on the volley to equalise the game. Every Chelsea fan in the stadium had gone ecstatic.

The game went to penalties as Mark Halsey blew the final whistle. Tommaso Rocchi scored the first penalty for Chelsea. Luis Nani levelled the score with a great penalty but Frank Lampard put Chelsea ahead again. Wayne Rooney had his poor penalty saved and so did Ashley Cole. Michael Carrick had his shot bounce back off the post. Claudio Pizzaro finished his with elegance and finally, Ryan Giggs couldn't score to keep Man Utd in the shoot out.

Wow yeah the match was very nervous while reading but this has happened for the first time than Cech has saved penalties and chelsea have won in the shoot out. Good win for Grant as manager..

Great update Mani :)

Grant delighted with attacking approach

_44603488_grant_bbc512.jpg

Grant had a smile on his face.

Following his teams thrilling win over Man Utd in the Community Shield, Avram Grant told the press he was delighted with his teams attacking approach in the match. He said that the second half of the match was the best he'd ever seen.

Avram Grant said "I was very happy. It was a great game to watch. You can't deny it. Yes, in the first half we were the weaker team. We were terrible to be frank. Even at the beginning of the second half, we were as boring as watching paint dry.

After that we were amazing. Our passing was sublime. Our shooting was perfect. Everytime we had an attack, we scored. It was remarkable. Totally amazing to watch. We were the better team by far.

Tommaso [Rocchi] was doubted before he was signed. Some critics said that I was out of my mind signing someone who had the talent but didn't fulfil his potential. Well he's already scored so many goals. Where are those critics now? I'd like to see them now.

Despite such a wonderful game, the fact of the matter is we conceded four goals. That's not good enough. In the first half we were three nil down. That's shocking for a team of our calibre. If that doesn't get sorted out, there will be serious changes. Perhaps some signings in the transfer market. Maybe even some sales."

Well chelsea have many attacking options and they are brilliant. Its good on Grant's side to praise them when they are in good form. I love this interviews Mani. :clap

Rocchi: "Grant turned it around"

200px-Rocchi_Tommaso.jpg

Rocchi scored twice against Man Utd.

Tommaso Rocchi has hailed Avram Grant for turning the match around during the Community Shield encounter against Man Utd. The Italian striker said that Grant's wise words of wisdom gave him the motivation to go out and win the game. Rocchi scored twice, finished his penalty in the penalty shoot out and walked away with the Man Of The Match award.

Rocchi said this "Avram Grant was the key reason we won that game. He wouldn't take no for an answer. He gave us the strength and motivation to go out and win the game with pride. We gave it our all and won. It was thanks to him we did it.

He said I could do it. He said that I was capable of doing it and I had to prove to him that he could. I didn't want to let him down. Not after the faith he put into me. I gave it my all and got rewarded. He was to thank though. His wisdom and faith in the team won the game.

Avram [Grant] doesn't show his emotions out to the public much but in the changing room he is a different man. He is motivating, emotional and passionate about Chelsea and his players. He wants to win. He wants the best for Chelsea."

Tommaso Rocchi went on to add "I publicly thank Avram Grant for everything. He has supported me from the moment I joined this club and he has done everything he could to help me. I believe that I can do very well thanks to him."

Ferguson blames controversial goal

rNTqRVR0zsw.jpg

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has blamed his teams loss on a controversial goal scored by Claudio Pizzaro. Chelsea beat Man Utd on penalties after a four all draw after ninety minutes. Claudio Pizzaro levelled the game with six minutes to go after a goal keeping error from Edwin Van der Sar. When the ball was played into the box for Pizzaro to score, Pizzaro was in an offside position.

Ferguson said this "It was shocking. It really was. I mean, how could the referee not see that? Everyone in the stadium saw it. Chelsea can turn their back on it, the officials can turn their back on it but at the end of the day that decision cost us the game.

We were four-three up with six minutes to go. Then the referee makes such a blunder under the pressure. Surely the referee is meant to handle the pressure, that's why he was selected for such a big game, the match between the two biggest teams in England. I'm shocked by it. I really am.

Claudio Pizzaro was offside when the ball came into the box. My defender purposely had him be caught in the offside trap and it would've worked if the referee was competent enough to make a right decision.

It wasn't just that decision either. Chelsea were going in for dirty tackles all game but only one player was booked. He should've been sent off as well. Look at the replay and tell me that's not a second yellow card. Shocking refeering cost us the game.

Penalties are pure luck anyway. At the end of the day, I'd rather win convincingly than luckily on penalties, controversially. Penalties can have one bad kick and that ends the game. Where as through out the game we were the better side. The referee cost us the game there, I'm outraged by the fact he couldn't referee properly."

Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to be fined by the Football Assosiation for a breach of the code of conduct the managers must follow. The fine is expected to be in the range of £1000-£3000 and he will be officially warned.

Ferguson fined by FA

Sir Alex Ferguson has been fined by the Football Association for what he said in his interview after the match between Chelsea and Man Utd. Ferguson said that the referee cost his team the game. Claudio Pizzaro was offside when the ball came into the box and Pizzaro ended up putting the ball in the back of the net and levelled the game with six minutes to go.

Sir Alex Ferguson will have to pay a fine £3000 for his lack of respect for the referee of the match. He has received an official warning from the Football Association and if he does the same again, he will receive a touchline ban.

A spokesman for the Football Association said this "Sir Alex [Ferguson] has been around for a very long time now. He should know better than that and knows what the punishment is if he does so. We are making an example of managers who do so for a while to stamp our authority.

Managers, players and football fans do not give the referee enough respect. Nothing near what he deserves. He does all he can to make sure the game is in order. He is not perfect so he will make mistakes. At the end of the day, that's football."

Just caught this story but it looks good, the presentation is clean and good to read. Well done on a thrilling win!

Chelsea vs Derby- Match Preview

article-0-0155D3A800000578-268_468x286.jpg

Lampard believes it's Chelsea's season.

Match: Chelsea vs Derby
Tournament: Premier League
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Kick Off: 1715
Referee: Mike Dean

Chelsea will square off against Derby County today in both team's first Premier League match of the season. The encounter sees the media predicted top team to face the media predicted bottom team at Stamford Bridge. Avram Grant will be in charge of his first match at Chelsea for this match and is looking to make a great impression.

Chelsea left back Wayne Bridge is still out with a hip injury. The defender is currently in Germany receiving specialist surgery on his hip and is likely to return in a months time. Bridge was not expected to start anyway. Tireless midfielder, Michael Ballack, is also out for this match. He is currently undergoing treatment on his strained ankle ligament. He is expected to return in two months time.

Derby County will be cursing their luck as their young nineteen year old prospect Giles Barnes strained an ankle in training on Thursday and will miss this match. He is expected to return to regular training by the end of the week. Twenty year old Adam Johnson will also miss the match due to a pulled hamstring. It is uncertain when Johnson will return to the side. Left midfielder- Johnson- is currently on loan at Derby from Middlesborough.

Since joining the club, it seems as though Tommaso Rocchi can do nothing other than score. He has played three games for Chelsea so far and has netted a cracking seven goals. He scored twice against Man Utd last week in the Community Shield match.

Rocchi is expected to have a great day at Stamford Bridge today, especially since Didier Drogba has returned to the Chelsea line up to strengthen the team further. Drogba missed the Community Shield match due to injury but is now back on full fitness and is expected to start with Rocchi.

Chelsea vice captain, Frank Lampard, said that his team were ready and willing to win back the Premier League. "We can win this. This is our year. If you go to our training you'll realise and sense the belief we have to win the league this year. We want this more than any other team and we'll do whatever it takes to win the league.

Our team is even stronger this year. Tommy [Tommaso Rocchi] has joined the team and he's fitted straight in. His ability is brilliant and he brings something to the club. He fits right in with us here. He has already got off to a fantastic start.

Our team is very close. We all get on great. As if we're a family. It really does seem that way. Our gelling and team play is fantastic now. The gaffa [Avram Grant] has made changes. Changes for good though. We're playing some fantastic, team football and we're getting great results. This is our season."

Derby shock Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

img.77568_t.jpg

Essien walks back to the changing rooms after his second yellow.

Derby County shocked everyone at Stamford Bridge today by recording a one nil win over Chelsea on the first day of the season. Chelsea totally outplayed Derby in the first half but Kenny Miller's goal after poor defending by Chelsea was enough to win the game. Michael Essien was sent off in the seventy seventh minute for Chelsea after a second yellow.

Chelsea went into this match as the more confident of two teams. They made two changes from the side that beat Man Utd on penalties in the Community Shield. Shaun Wright-Phillips swapped places with Salomon Kalou and got his place in the starting line up. Avram Grant made a brave decision in leaving Andriy Shevchenko out of the squad for the first game of the season. Didier Drogba started up front along side Tommaso Rocchi and Claudio Pizzaro was on the bench.

Chelsea got the game underway with the kick off and started passing the ball around very well. Frank Lampard tried his luck in the second minute with a shot from outside the box and tested the keeper. Derby goalkeeper Lewis Price tipped the ball over his goal for a corner. Frank Lampard follwed up with the corner but it was unsucessful.

Chelsea were attacking again a minute later. Tyrone Mears brought down Florent Malouda for a free-kick in a good position. Frank Lampard took the free-kick but it was deflected off the wall. The ball fell to Shaun Wright-Phillips on the right hand side but his shot was not good enough to hit the target.

In the tenth minute Chelsea almost went ahead. After some great passing and moving play from Michael Essien and Frank Lampard. Tommaso Rocchi struck the ball hard and Lewis Price couldn't hold onto it. Didier Drogba followed up with the rebound but his shot was fantasticly saved by Lewis Price. The ball was cleared away and the danger was averted.

Frank Lampard had another free-kick oppurtunity in the twenty second minute. His shot was well saved by Lewis Price and put out for a corner. Lampard's corner was wasted again. Frank Lampard had not started off the game well, wasting many chances.

In shocking fashion, Derby County took the lead in the twenty fifth minute with Kenny Miller. With their first attack Derby took the ball into the Chelsea half with Robbie Earnshaw. Both Ricardo Carvalho and John Terry went to Earnshaw leaving Miller unmarked. Earnshaw played the ball through to Miller wonderfully and Miller kept his cool to finish against Petr Cech.

Derby County almost doubled their lead with Robbie Earnshaw. Ricardo Carvalho defended it very poorly again. He let Earnshaw run past him and put him through to the area. Earnshaw lost his balance when he went for the shot and he hit it well wide.

Despite dominating the game throughout the first half, Chelsea went into the changing rooms the side behind. Avram Grant was not afraid of showing his fury at the Chelsea players. He made two changes at half time. Frank Lampard was disappointing and went off for Salomon Kalou. Didier Drogba was replaced by Claudio Pizzaro.

The second started off very dull with no chances for either side. It took fifteen minutes for either team to have an attack. Chelsea played some great passing play again but they tried a spectacular shot again and wasted the oppurtunity. The ball went out for a corner.

The corner from Claudio Pizzaro was cleared poorly and went to Juliano Belletti. The ball was played back in and Ashley Cole headed the ball on. The header was tipped over by Lewis Price for another corner.

In the seventy seventh minute, more trouble arised for Chelsea. Michael Essien, unecessarily, went in for a very late tackle on Tyrone Mears. Michael Essien was given a second yellow card and took the early walk of shame to the changing rooms.

The final whistle blew at Stamford Bridge and everyone in the stadium was shocked. Derby County someone scraped a win against Chelsea away from home. A serious dent in Chelsea's title aspirations on the first day of the season. Kenny Miller was the goal scorer for Derby but Lewis Price was the hero of the game, keeping out everything Chelsea threw at him.

What:eek: haha:p Great win there for Derby County over Chelsea. Well the unbeaten record was gonna end some day but surely Derby were not gonna do that. Essien got a red that not unusual for a Chelsea player when they are losing.

Well presented Mani:clap
