I always liked this story, but after seeing Manure get hammered like that, its just reached an all new level. Brilliant!! Were Ferdinand and Ronaldo injured??

Aston Villa vs Liverpool
English premier League 2008
Matchday 6
14 September 2008
Villa Park , Aston Villa
Attendance: 42,584(1000%)
Referee: Alex Rose

It was an emotional return for former Villa captain Gareth Barry . But the match turned out be entertaining . All expected Liverpool to win easily but it didnt happen so as Aston Villa played some great football which help them earn a draw . Scolari made one change by replaceing Deggen with Finnan . Liverpool had lot of chances and possession but again they werent able to convert them .

Liverpool started the game with a great attack led Torres but a good save by Carson . But 14 minutes later Bouma scored his first of the season through a header and Villa were 1-0 up at home . Barry and Joqauin came very close but didnt score . The fans booed when Barry had the ball in his leg . But just at the stroke of half time Salifou doubled the lead with an excellent volley .

Liverpool began the second half positively . They had a couple chances which Huntelaar missed . But Xabi Alonso didnt miss from 12 yards a great cross by Joaquin and a smal lay of the by Torres and a great strike by Alonso . It was all Spanish combination which lead to the goal . 2nd goal was very near when both Gerrard and Torres made Carson do some work . But at 68th minute Joaquin again crossing in and this Steven Gerrard with a great diving header and beating Carson it was 2-2 . Liverpool could have made 3-2 when Huntelaar's strike hit the post and then was cleared of the line Davies on the rebound . But it was another poor draw by Liverpool . Liverpool havent been able to convert chances and this problem should be sort out quickly before it is too late .

After the euphoria of hammering United, Liverpool have been brought down to earth by a talented Villa side. Scolari (Who was announced as the Chelsea manager today!!!!) needs to realise that consistency is crucial in the English Premier League.

Juventus game is going to be tough, especially since it is in Turin. Scolari should be happy if they can get even a draw there.

P.S - I have you considered playing Gerrard on the left and Barry center?

I tried that but Gerrard's level fall down to 56 and Barry's to fall down to 47...I am trying to go with Barry as left back...and will bring Mascherano instead of Xabi Alonso for the next 2 matches as Xabi Alonso is injured

Juventus vs Liverpool
UEFA Champions League 2008
Matchday 1
18 September 2008
Stadio Delle Alpi , Juventus
Attendance: 59,358(83%)
Referee: Benno Mulzer

startingXI-5.jpg

There were three changes made by Scolari today in the starting XI . Joaquin was cup tied and so was replaced by Yossi Benayoun on the right midfield while Xabi Alonso who was injured in training was replaced by Javier Mascherano and Daniel Agger who got suspended in the qualifier was replaced by Martin Skrtel . All the people expected to be a highly tight match but Liverpool just showed why they are Champions League Specialist . It was at the end an esy win for Liverpool by the help of 2 first half goals .

Juventus got the first chance of the match through Trezeguet but it went wide . But Fernando Torres headed in the first goal of the match assisted by a great Riise cross . The most of the game was played in the midfield both sides were trying to get their passing right . It was an Juventus corner and from there Liverpool broke with Gerrard who gave a great pass to Huntelaar and an easy finish pass captain Buffon . Liverpool went up 2-0 at half time .

In the second half Lucas came on for Benayoun and Gerrard went on the right . The whole second half was played by Liverpool on a defensive mode . Juventus created some great chances but were unable to score . Reina looked to be on top form in the second half and was tested a lot from Juventus from long range but he was unbeaten . The game finished and Liverpool fans were delighted with victory .

Yes a massive win, considering it was an away game. Juventus surely had their chances but werent able to convert so credit must be given to the Reds defence and Reina's saves in the second half. Trezeguet's miss also dint help.

Like someone said, this was the toughest game in the group stages for Liverpool, but that by no means means that the rest will be easy. Liverpool did drop points against Villa after hammering United before.
