The Zimbabwe Situation

What is this black and white thing???

We are all humans, we are all same
The zimbabwe government should be ashamed

I think the term government shouldn't be used to describe them King Cricket.

Griffo an idea might be to find quotes of exiled sportsman/countrymen, everyone here knows my view on Zimbabwe, but given recent thoughts by Ray Mali I don't think any action is likely by the ICC and they've left it up to the teams themself to decide.

The Zimbabwe situation is of course a horrible one, 80% unemployment, highest inflation in the world and massive food shortages, there is little food on the shelves and what is, is often unavailable to many because they haven't got any wages to spend. International Sanctions mean nothing to a man like Mugabe, if anything they 'egg' him on. Taking away the farms from people who knew how to make them succesful and giving them to people who were untrained and had no idea was a huge mistake in terms of the huge food shortage. Imo they shouldn't be allowed in cricket because they violate practically everything and government interference is supposedly banned in cricket, South Africa back them up, but that isn't surprising as they too should be kicked out if Zimbabwe are (relating to the racial quotas system). I believe Zimbabwe now has the lowest life expectancy, something which is expected to get lower too.

How to change things? Well for a start Mugabe has to leave and that will only happen one way and no one will take military action against him. Their neighbouring countries have to change too. The answer? I don't know, it's a horrible situation, one of the biggest problems in the world, imo.

I really feel terrible.
How can Mugabe do this to the common people!
Is he a man or a monster?

Even though that statement is broad it has a point

I might have to reseach the black/white relationship

I would, although finding research which is the 'right' research might be tricky.

It's a tragic irony that Mugabe has tried to take from the whites to give to the 'natives', yet those suffering the most are the natives.

Have a look around your library for info on Zimbabwe, Griffo.

Yeh I will have a look into it when I get back from my holidays, I would go out to the puclic library but I have been rather sick so ive let my mouse do the finding so far

I have over 4 pages of quotes so far from cricketing people in general about the situation so I seem to be fine with that area. I feel that the 2003 World Cup will be a big focal point on this subject as it showed alot of insight into the situation which the cricketing world seemed to ignore

I think its all down to that burk of a leader they have. All he does is wreck the lives of innocent people, killing and slaughtering them. He's worse than Saddam and Hitler and we went to war with them. Not that i agree with the Iraq war, but somehting has to be done about this fool.
I wouldn't exactly call him worse than Hitler, Hitler not only tried to kill off people based on their religion/race, but he also invaded other countries.

Mugabe is terrible, but not a Hitler to me. The problem with no one wanting to start wars with him is that he poses no immediate threat to anyone, and Zimbabwe has no resources to mine.

Yeh, he's certainly no Hitler. I'd dread to think what he'd do if we did invade though, he'd probably massacre his own. And with Sudan also up shits creek we've got two big problems in Africa (excluding most of the other countries).

It makes you wonder what he would do to actually provoke a war.... no one will take him on if he doesnt do anything to other countrys. Australia had minor political issues with Zimbabwe but thats the only instance with another country which ive seen or heard about... (may be a case of ignorant media)

Overall I hope the crisis is solved because they have to much potential to be wasted

The potential? There'd be a lot more if most of the country wasn't dying before they reached cricket retirement age, or of course the potential of those who can't get in because they have to have x amount of black players like South Africa.

Sorry I'm expecting the ICC to care about real issues, kind of like expecting a horse to write a novel.

Yeh they all seem to be out for themselves and not for the good of the game, as long as they get paid they are happy

What issues should I address in my Oral Presentation

Haven't you bloody done it yet?!
There's heaps of issues, depends on how long the presentation has to go for.
