WOW! I have missed a lot. :p
Nice to know your date went well.
Also, your presentation skills have been great throughout this story.
Keep them up and I am looking forward to the start of the match mate. ;)

Thats a very strong WI team there - but lets hope you impress Gemma and get a few runs and maybe a few wickets! My money is on you getting Lara :)

Friday 5th April

Heading out of the dressing room and down the pavillion steps a sudden wave of noise greeted my ears. I had been told the West Indies fans were very loud but nothing prepared you for this. We all got into a huddle. David started to speak

"Right lads. This is a tough match for us, so let's give a 110%. Sheriy and Martin will open the bowling and whoever bowls next will depend on how they do. I want really sharp fielding and a lot of encoragement. If we can cause a shock here it will have unsettled them when the matches begin to matter. Ok let's do this."

Ramdin and Gayle had just appeared, walking very confidently down the steps. These two both hit a massive ball and we would want to try and restrict the flow of runs during the powerplay overs. Martin and Sheriy would have to bowl a perfect line. We had 1 slip and a very defensive field with everyone inside the circle except for a third man and a fine leg. Everyone was alert.

Martin got hit for a 4 of his second ball and then of his next ball, Ramdin launched one back over his head with one bounce before it reached the rope. Sheriy ran over to Martin and they had a little chat. I don't know what was said but it worked. Next ball Martin bowled a perfect yorker. Ramdin attempted a risky slog shot over the leg side and completely missed it. His off-peg was knocked right back. WE HAD THE FIRST WICKET :happy

Everyone came running in and hugged Martin. it was the perfect start for us as this now meant that the legend of Lara would be in early giving us a much better chance of dismissing him with the new ball. Suddenly loud music came on. It was "We will Rock You" by Queen. The legend of Lara was out. Confidence just seemed to radiate from him. This would be the biggest test many of us would have in our career's.

Brian Lara is probably the greatest batsmen around at the moment. His perfect technique and thirst for runs has resulted in him having an average of over 50 in Tests and 40 in ODI's. However he had played relatively few 20/20's so perhaps his lack of experience would prove to be a weakness which we could exploit.

Or maybe not. Gayle had pretty much nothing to do. Lara just destroyed us. We knew we were in trouble when he hit 2 sixes in a row of only the second and third balls he faced. We needed to try and do a stratergy of containment but with the fielding restrictions still in place it was not to easy. No area of the ground was safe with the highest insult being Lara sweeping Martin for 4  We needed a lucky break and quick.

It was at the other end where we got the breakthrough. We had finally managed to get Lara off strike and could now have a concentrated spell against Gayle who had so far spent his time out at the crease watching the ball sailing to all areas of the ground. Perhaps this lulled him into a false sense of security as he obviously thought we were easy prey. A bad move to underestimate this Kent team. A perfect slower ball by Martin meant that Gayle did not quite pick it up. He tried to go big but the lack of timing meant that it gave Sheriy no trouble who took an easy catch giving Martin his second wicket of the match. 47/2 but Lara was still there and now Chanderpaul was at the creae. The two best batsmen in the West Indies team. This would be difficult.

David called us all in for a little pep talk.

"Right lads. We have made a pretty decent start picking up two wickets but they are scoring much to quickly. We need to restrict the run-rate so I am going to have a few sweepers patrolling the boundary to try and reduce the run-rate. Bowlers just keep it in the block hole and we'll be fine"

We all broke up and headed of to our relevant positions. I had been moved to a widish second/third slip, just in case we did manage to lure one of them into an edge. David was pretty much bellowing to be heard over the crowd. I expected to be bowling quite soon and it would be a life changing experience. But presently Sheriy and Martin had to concentrate on restricting these runs.

Hopefully we would be able to make a breakthrough and pick up either batsman. Wish us luck :)

brillaint update mate and good start for both teams they will be happy with their scoring rate but getting 2 wickts is good hopefully u can bowl and restrict them can't wait to see how his goes keep up the great work!!

The master is on fire here. You guys need to keep your heads and get him out. ;)

Great presentation mate. Those 2 wickets really helped you and Kent.

great start for the windies....54 in 6 overs is superb at the rate of 9 per over...kent need the all important wicket of Lara who is batting really well....

here u go...3rd post in ur story and many more to come...

That run rate is awesome but still, situation seem to be "Anything can happen" one. This reminds me the flyer which Windies got off to in CT2006 finals and then falled to a low horrible total against Aussies.

Fantastic storyline and efforts. Keep it up. :hrpaise

Excellent update. Just have to break this partnership and I think you will have a good chance of winning the game..

West Indies are going at a good run-rate. If Lara and Chanderpaul can hang around they will make a more than handy Twenty20 score.

Thats a terrific start for West Indies. They are going at 9 rpo but at the same time they lost both the openers. With Lara and Chanderpaul at the crease, WI will be looking forward to get a huge score.

Fantastic storyline, great graphics, nice use of the stats and overall it makes a great story :clap
