VIVIAN RICHARDS
SACHIN TENDULKAR
BRIAN LARA
SOURAV GANGULY

But the biggest markets for the game are eng and aus, so someone like Ganguly will not blow away cook and Clarke.

my money is on either of the following : (not in any order as such)

1. Michael Bevan
2. Adam Gilchrist
3. Mathew Hayden
4. Brian Lara (the most unlikely but who knows if they bought the franchisee from Codies )

Brian Lara, like Ricky Ponting, would be a risk given that he is associated with previous Codemasters games that weren't very good. Hard to see them using Michael Bevan as he hasn't played for ages and barely even played test cricket.

Agreed they weren't that good but its an established franchisee right from the mid 90's and I suppose have sold well , so the general people will be aware . Only exception being BLC 99' and it has a massive following.

As I said its unlikely but I wouldn't rule that out .

Your sources :rolleyes
Or are you just having fun?

In any case, Adam Gilchrist has been the most probable one!

I would laugh hard is this was the case. Every gamer under 25 goes "who"?

Now i am thinking it will be someone retired...an old time legend.

From current gen there is only kallis and sachin but neither of them will attract people the way ross hinted in england and australia.

And gilchrist, hayden etc are ruled out too because even though popular they just don't seem to be like someone that will have the aforementioned effect on people.

ponting, lara etc are unlikely too because of ross mentioning a negative effect afl live had due to an older game having the same name. Hardly think he will make the same mistake.

And people like steve waugh, imran khan, wasim akram etc although better than gilly and hayden still just don't feel right.

That just makes me think it is someone from even earlier. Either gary sobers or bradman. Everyone young or old respects them and are aware of them.now if the cover player is really left handed, that rules out bradman.

So it will be gary sobers' cricket 14 :p

^^^Maybe only Bradman or Warne even that is questionable. How do you beat Cook and Clarke who are the opposing Ashes captains who just so happen to be two high class batsmen in world cricket if thats not daunting enough lets throw in the fact that the game will be on sale during an ashes active period.

To go head to head vs a game with Cook and Clarke on the cover with big 'Ashes' writing in the middle plus ECB and CA licence stickers during an Ashes series and X-mas around the corner is just suicide.

Unfortunately for us cricket/game lovers gameplay alone does not sell a cricket game.
