To Russia via...

Your never too young for anything. Wel actually yeh, you probably couldn't do it :p

Great update as always, hopefully nearing some footy soon though ;)

I love the cockyness of this Mani fellow. Sounds like a great guy. So we're going back to Russia. Take us on a road trip why won't you. :D

"Bought a one way ticket to hell...
And Back!"

Home soil. We had arrived in Russia, with no more fighting on the way back. It was actually surprisingly calm. Mani had gone of for a bit of 'me' time on the plane which was a bit suspicious as he went to the toilet for it. The thing is, he made it very clear that he did not want to be interrupted. Was he contacting Japan? We knew what he had been doing when he came out, as he was limping a little and was red in the face. I'll leave you to your imagination about that one...

Anyway, we were back on home soil. In Moscow to be exact. There were people around and houses were being rebuilt. There were smiles on the Russian's faces. We were a community and a society all helping each other. The Japanese hadn't actually done as much damage as was thought. They had only blown up a few thousand houses, a few factories and the like but not that much. Nothing a good bit of spirit and a few kegs of beer can't challenge!

The damage wasn't that bad, great. We were back in Russia, great. The best thing of all though, was that I had heard about my parents. Apparently just before the fire broke out where they lived, they had moved out of the country. Where? I, like everyone else, don't know. All the records on the ins and outs of the country in the last few years have been lost but I'm sure I'll meet up with them in my future life.

Time had been going slowly since we entered Russia the first time; it was only the 2nd February. There was only 16 days till the pre-season for Lokomotiv Moscow would start. I had to go and see them, about becoming their manager. The 'prophet' had returned. Ex-Austrian coach Gerhard Hitzel was in charge of them at the moment but unfortunately for him, that would soon change. Hopefully.

"Mani."
"Uh-huh."
"What if.. Well what if..."
"What if what?"
"What if Moscow don't want me no-more?"
"They came 3rd last season and Hitzel has become very popular with the fans. It's likely they won't want you anymore."
"Then what will I do? I don't know anything else"
"I had a backup Club that said they would love to have you at the helm of their club."

Great! If Lokomotiv don't want me then I can always go to another club. We could do the double over them in the season, beat them in the cup, do well in Europe; prove that Lokomotiv made the wrong choice. We could win the Premier Division, no matter the club.

"Really? That's great. Is it Spartak Moscow?"
"No."
"Dinamo Moscow?"
"No."
"CSKA Moscow?"
"No."
"Zenit St.Petersburg?"
"No. It's First Division Shinnik Yaroslavl."

I know I have been out of Russia for a long time but who are they? I don't want to be going to some team that are rotting in the First Division. Anyway, I don't need a back-up. Lokomotiv are bound to want me. I mean they must want me. Mustn't they?

Nice comeback James. I loled at Mani having some 'me time' :p

Seems you will be managing a rubbish First Division side then mate. Good luck with that ;)

Hehe, me and my me time :p. Shinnik Yaroslavl! Sounds like some new kind of puke. Well you managing that club is not surprising :p.

Wow good comeback Jaz.

Looks like you to manage a stupid first division never heard side. Good luck with that and hope ypu make the side capable of beating the best in Europe in a couple of seasons time

Thanks Shan. Hoping to get them into the top division quite quickly so we can do well. That is if I don't get the Lokomotiv job.

That is probably asking a bit too much, but I am still hoping (against hope) that you do get the Lokomotiv job someday!

Yeah here's hoping. If not I will make Shinnik better than Lokomotiv have been or will be.

Thanks for all your comments, guys. It's good to be writing updates for this story again. :)

Towns and Cities rebuilt. Lives remade. All happened in such a short space of time. It was only the 15th of February, 13 days after we arrived in Russia and Moscow had already rebuilt most of the damage and was recuperating from the war with Japan. Many things had happened in the 13 days, many important things. The first thing to have happened was the end of the war. Great Britain, U.S.A, France and China were all ready to declare war on Japan, but Japan and Russia negotiated a peace treaty. Thank god there won't be a World War Three!

The second thing was that I had a meeting with Lokomotiv Moscow's chairman, Alexey Kharkov. I drove to Lokomotiv Moscow's 28,800 seater stadium ahead of my meeting. I arrived a good hour early, to make a good impression. I really wanted this job, it would just make my life. I was told to go to the Chairman's suite. The Chairman has a suite?! Now that is pure quality.

I arrived at the Chairman's suite. I knocked on the door and heard a voice from inside, sounded like a groan. Meh, could of been him shouting for me to come in. I opened the door and walked straight ahead into the room. There was no-one in the room. I heard some noises from another room in the Suite. I walked into an open room. The closer I got the louder the groans got. I looked in and...

"OH MY GOD!"
"Mr.Edmonds! Uh yeah, Mr.Edmonds! Great to see you..."

The Chairman was on the table of his secretary, with his secretary. Yes they were unclothed and were enjoying each other. Anyway, we're not going to focus on that... He quickly got dressed and we proceeded into the room which I first entered. He was slightly red but he hid it quite well behind all his 'bling bling'.

"So, Mr.Edmonds. I hear you have come here to become the manager?"
"That would be correct."
"Well I'm sorry to say this, but I can't offer you the job at the present time."

He looked at me, not showing any kind of emotion. It's like he didn't care he was breaking my dream. I felt anger, disappointment and a degree of no self worth all at once. It was as if he was heartless. I had to come back with something just as witty and I had to show him I was no joke.

"*******."

I walked out of the room and walked straight out of the doors. I got in my car and drove. I thought of all the opportunities that had now gone down in flames because of him. They said they would one day give me a job as my playing career was lost, but no. They're not going to give it to me. I rang up Mani to tell him about my very brief interview.

"Mani, it didn't go well."
"Ah that's not too bad, there's always Shinnik."
"Yeah, I guess."
"In fact they have offered you the job of manager..."
"Really?"
"And I said yes on your behalf."

I hung up as soon as he said that. That was about 10 days ago now and I'm actually pleased Mani did that. The lads are all fantastic as is the staff. We have a team that is better than I thought it was and we are one of the favourites of going up, now that I am at the helm. The chairman said he wants promotion and that's exactly what I'm going to give him.

Unlucky at not getting the job, and to make matters worse the guy who told you you weren't getting the job was banging the secretary as you walked in. C'mon James, take Shinnik to the top division and batter Lokomotiv!

Great writing as always mate :)

Lol at the chairman "having some fun" with his secretary :p. Never doubt my decisions, they're always the right ones :p.

Cheers for the comments guys. I'm hoping for that to happen Jack but I don't know whether it will... We can hope. Nice to see everyone hating Lokomotiv now. :D

Should get an update tomorow, been bit busy today.
