From the day the game got released at least one person is having a rant about not getting a decent realistic gameplay. Whatever be the reason most of them feel the gameplay is sloppy and not up-to mark. This really makes me wonder what these guys were doing during BLIC07 and EA 07 days. Seriously AC09 has one of the best gameplay ever for a cricket game, i.e., if you don't make use of the AI limitations. None the less from day number one, I am able to get a decent gameplay with this game, not the best but at least decent.

Here are few tips that might help you:

  • Do not exploit the AI, remember the AI is as such a computer program with limited capabilities. Unlike football, it is very difficult to code a perfect AI for cricket so don't over use its limitations. E.g. If you find a line and length to which the AI is vulnerable, then try to keep the ball away from that particular one. Also, try to minimize the yorkers.

  • Try to play test cricket like a test. Even in reality the bowlers and the fielders are same no matter whether it is a test or ODI, only the batsman approach is different. Do not loft every ball over the in-field. If cricketers do the same thing, even they can get very high scores.

  • Do not convert the off-side ball to a leg-side shot. This normally results in a lot of runs and makes scoring very easy.

  • Do not over utilize the custom field setup, having 5-6 fielders on the off-side and bowling according to the field will definitely restrict the AI.

  • Use the player editor and lower some skills of your players, do not set everything to 100 for any batsmen or bowler.
By following the above guidelines, I am pretty sure you can get a decent gameplay. So before you make a rant check whether you have followed all the points here. If I find anything more, I will post it here or if anyone has suggestions, you can just post below so I will add them here.

Mate, good job with trying to make people stop compaining etc. But the thing is, your meant to try as hard as you can, your not meant to try and make it a realisctic match, its not like England are 3/8, and then Australia slow down because they want to make it realistic!

Thanks for the tips.

Can you, or anyone else tell me how I canc hange the English and Aussies skills? I can change every other player on the game, just not them, so how do you guys do it?

Hmmm I do know that, but there is nothing much we can do about it can we? Being humans it is only possible for us to adjust to the AI gameplay.
What would you do if the AI is like EA 07? At least here something is better and the only way to make it interesting is to adjust to the AI. To make things realistic, you don't need to adjust a lot (like what you might have to do in BLIC07 or EA07) but a minor adjustment will help you to attain a better gameplay and enjoy the game.
