I enjoyed it, but bear in mind that I enjoy anything (that should tell you about things I don't like).
I think they did some things very well and I am excited to see what they will do with them coming seasons.

I agree some execution could have been better.
The biggest sore spot was Galadriel not her arc but her actress. By the end she was doing better in some scenes but still very inconsistent.
I read the reddit complaints but most of them are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Reddit is terrible for any form of discussion on the show honestly. It's been completely taken over by one section wanting to criticise certain other real life things via the show and the show's paid PR on the other side.

I'm surprised that you liked the harfoots as I find them to be the most jarring part of the show. They had almost no connection to the rest of the show and seemed like a very corporate inclusion with Amazon doing some surface level research and finding out that audiences respond well to hobbit like beings in these properties for comic relief via some polls. Their society seemed more cutthroat than the orcish society (which takes some beating) and a lot of their sections feel just so out of place in terms of the quality of writing and plot. To make a comparison... The Foundation's plot with Lee Pace and everything else is the closest I can think of (mainly the Terminus plot). A+ plot, writing and everything else right down to costumes on the former and the quality just dropped down steeply with everything on Termiuns. Not saying it was downright terrible like the consensus has decided but it felt so jarring to go from there to whatever they were trying on Terminus.

I really liked Arondir's part in the show, thought he was one of the most compelling characters alongside his nemesis throughout the show. Bronwyn felt a bit here and there but overall I felt she was adequate. Isildur didn't click with me well but he was far better than his sister character. Durin, Disa and Elrond were splendid, honestly my favourite part of the show other than Arondir and the orcs would be them. All of the dwarves were superbly done barring the smoking gun that the show should have absolutely not shown with regards to them. I'd honestly watch a show focusing on them than the Elves, don't think the show works when the Elves are supposed to be mystical and mythical beings that you cannot relate to at the end of the day where as that is simply not possible in a show focusing on the Second Age which was their time.

I disagree with your criticism of Galadriel's actress though having seen her in other works like the Copperfield adaptation. She's got the range to play Galadriel and having watched the first LOTR movie recently she does channel Cate Blanchett in a good way which is very tough given how excellent the latter is. I think the problem with her character is just the writing and the arc. This is supposed to be one of the strongest and mature characters in the world at this point and instead she's been written like an emotional teenager without much of the context as to why she is this way currently (the First Age stuff they managed to show is not enough reason to justify such a jarring character change). Criticism of this has also been sadly hijacked by everyone going after her taking down a troll single-handedly or swimming across the vast sea for hours and days as character flaws when both are feats she is capable of and more when the real issue is her mentality and maturity. I think she projects herself more as a Galadriel type persona in a random instagram photo the actress uploaded recently than at any point in the show.

Spoiler: Spoilers I guess for some random LOTR stuff?

She's supposed to be the mother-in-law of Elrond and yet the latter seems to be a lot more reasonable, mature and calculated than she is at every point in this show. That to me is the most jarring.

Eh isn’t this how Matt Murdock is in the comics usually though? He isn’t a Batman incarnate like in the Netflix series other than when Miller wrote him and while that adaptation was absolutely remarkable I thought he was good in the new series too. He still had that down to earth quality and seriousness around him alongside the genuineness. He wasn’t anywhere near as quippy as most MCU characters are too, I thought the humour was well integrated for his character.

Calling one of the OG sci-fi films average is absolute blasphemy but I can understand why you feel that way.

I did not like the MCU version of Matty. I think he should have remained on Netflix and collabrate with other Defenders again.

The latter wasn’t possible at all practically and the Defenders barring Matt and Jessica weren’t any good.

I still think it’s too early to judge a character based off just two episodes in a series that is as tonally different from where we last saw him before as possible. It does seem like they’re trying their best to placate Charlie and listen to his whims and wishes for the character so I do have belief that they won’t go astray with his character.

One of the most iconic voice actors in history. It is telling that despite multiple talented actors portraying Batman in live action, none could ever bring the command and attitude that Conroy conveyed with his voice alone.

I've seen lots of celebrities deaths and of course anyone who dies is tragedy. Usually when a celebrity dies I think about them for a day then move on, because I didn't know them in real life. But Kevin Conroy's death is just hitting me differently for some reason. I had so many chances to meet him in person at conventions and every time I would think, he's usually here every year if not every other year, I'll meet him next time. I never got a chance. I'm happy to know that he loved his fans, and he enjoyed meeting them and that's why he would do as many conventions as possible to meet the fans.

I would highly suggest anyone to read the "Finding Batman" story that Kevin wrote himself. RIP Kevin Conroy

Finished watching Andor, held off on it as I couldn’t handle the stress of having to wait a week for every episode when each one was so nerve wracking.

This is the show of this year probably. Outstanding writing, acting, set design, dialogues and characters. Everything feels so real and raw and each episode feels like an absolute pressure cooker. A series based on a secondary character in a spin-off movie of the most impactful film franchise in history has no business being this good and yet it shows how special it can be if the right amount of care, passion and effort is put into something to elevate it beyond the mundane. This might easily be the best Star Wars product since the first two movies if I’m being honest. I dearly hope we get more exploration of different settings in the Star Wars universe in this manner and shelve away the Skywalkers and Palpatines for a long, long time.

I watched Bad Sisters on Apple. First episode, I was like " this is ok" and was loving it not long after. Chunked through seven episodes in a row

Funny, tense moments, some good music by PJ Harvey and a performance from Claes Bang to make JP one of my most hated characters since Joffrey Baratheon! All the cast is great though.

Two series watched on Apple and they are two of the best shows I've watched this year.

Before I realised there was no Succession this year, I'd have had Severance in my top 3. Probably top 2 now. The Bear was my favourite, just felt so fresh and had an energy to it that I don't think you get in much TV.

Seen quite a few good shows (We Own This City, Bad Sisters, Julia, The Boys, off the top of my head) - maybe I'm lucky at what I pick or have watched more this year. I'm usually at least 6-12 months behind. I'm about five years behind with Better Call Saul.
