Uni ftw

History requires researching skills that business firms would be more than happy to acquire. It's not so much the subject of History that makes it a subject with broad job opportunities but the skills require such as reading and analysing long texts and primary reserach.

Only interested in a well paid job? Or is it something you enjoy doing, too?

I absolutely LOVE politics. Which is what always draws me into perhaps trying to get a career in politics, being an MP, maybe MAYBE going further etc. But then, it's a pretty averagely paid job for a lot of hassle and stress and abuse. I could still very much contribute politically and play a part in politics which would be something I enjoy, in the Civil Service.

Good for you, can often take a while for someone to know what they want to do.

Those poor mis-guided people in my tutorial group decided to vote me to be their rep for the year. A complete white-wash as well, with only me voting for someone different. So basically they come to me with any issues they have regarding the course. Good luck with that  :p

Indeed, I have no idea what I want to do at Uni. Its a toss up between PPE, Law and Journalism (but I don't do English AS Level, so that might rule that out).

I know what I wanna do at Uni and I've still got the best part of 2 years at college to go. Definitely want to head down the Journalism route, but also maybe something to do with Film. Taking Media and English Combined for A-Levels, so as long as I get decent grades, I should be set up to do what I want.

I presume this excludes issues about whether the course is right for them or not?

I think the main issue it covers is moderating the debate entitled "Most degrading ways to break up with a girl: Tex, MSN or faking your own death?"

I know what I'm doing.

Politics and International Relations. Builds me up perfectly for a career in either politics or the Civil Service. I'm tempted to pass over the good fight, and fighting for the justice of the being and just go straight in the Civil service, take my 40k starting wage, bumped up after 2 years to 60k then hopefully keep going through the years.

St Andrew's is the best place for that. Based on your other post sounds like you should consider the FCO.
Also try and get some work experience at Westminster; I did and it was brilliant.

Being rep is great. I was rep for the whole year after one of my tutors approached me (democracy in action) and used it as a platform to get what I wanted in departmental meetings - "The student body think that...". Don't think that any of my fellow students even knew I was rep - I certainly never made the mistake of telling them...

I reckon I could help you, i reckon I could even send you mine if UCAS still lets me access it!

PM me, and we'll talk numbers.

Presumeably one or both of you have a computer copy though. You didn't just write it without several previous drafts?

I'm on my new laptop though. I wrote it on the desktop before, so it got deleted when my parents bought a new comp and I got the laptop.

It's 8:45 and I'm sitting in the Uni launderette doing my washing. How sad :noway
