Not sure if many people use this simulator: Cricket Web - Games & Downloads: Virtual Cricket

I personally like it because it calculates the results of games based on player statistics, not just a 'rating' system. It's biggest flaw is that it calculates games instantly, so you can't enjoy any commentary or influence the result in any way, another issue is that the run rates of batsman aren't implemented as far as I know (although I haven't experimented at all with strike rate statistics), this makes ODI simulations a little unrealistic (at least by modern standards). Anyway, enough of that.

The game, while a good simulator, only came with the 2001 test and ODI squads, it seems the game hasn't really been kept up to date by anyone though, leaving it a bit out of date.

I'll be posting VirtualCricket4 squads in this thread for use in simulations, the goal is to have databases for every year of cricket for domestic and international competition. To use a database, simply import the notepad file while running VC4 and away you go (to play t20 games simply set the amount of overs to 20 when starting a new game). (The 1989 domestic county squads and 2008 test squads were written by someone else, I can't remember where I got it, but credit to whoever that is for them).

Again, not sure if there's any interest in this simulator, but requests are more than welcome.

The ODI version of the simulator works as a general limited overs version, just adjust the amount of overs to 20.
Ok thanx will see how is it[DOUBLEPOST=1419012918][/DOUBLEPOST]Will it have no commentary??

Had to use List A stats to avoid the low bowling strike rates of T20 causing abnormal results, but here is the 2014 IPL squads.

Here are 'The Early Years'. Interesting to sim through, and pretty educational. Gives you a real appreciation for how good players like Spofforth and Lohmann were (and, more importantly, lesser known guys), and how hard it was for batsman to score runs on the pitches they had back then.

Australia and England were the only test nations in those days, but there is a cameo from the original South African test side from 1889, the English XI that toured South Africa were mostly secondary county players (including some who had not even played first class level cricket) in order to ensure a fair contest between the inferior South Africans and Englishmen.

Here's some help for you @Jagar, I like VC4 also and was also going to update this a few years ago. I stumble across a page where this was posted. The blogger was helpful, yet I didn't quite get the project off the ground (I still can't quite edit the game "correctly") but anyway here is the novel. Part 2 will come soon. Here's a bit about the bowling economy rate:

"Data Adjustments VC4 Bowler's Economy

Some of you may have realised that not everything about VC4 is accurate. One of the most problematic areas of play is bowler's economy rate.

If you're like me, you've probably tinkered with data files to create super players with batting averages of 999, strike rates of 1 wicket per ball and economy rates of zero.

Except, of course, that whenever you put the economy rate at zero, batsmen can still score runs.

Well, after exhaustive testing, I can now present to you the adjusted economy rates. I haven't done them all, but if you want your bowlers to actually have an economy rate that matches their career averages, here it is:

4.25 = 999 in text file
3.95 = 4.3 in text file
3.98 = 4.2 in text file
3.85 = 4.1 in text file
3.75 = 4.0 in text file
3.67 = 3.9 in text file
3.63 = 3.8 in text file
3.62 = 3.7 in text file
3.57 = 3.6 in text file
3.48 = 3.5 in text file
3.40 = 3.4 in text file
3.43 = 3.3 in text file
3.29 = 3.2 in text file
3.21 = 3.1 in text file
3.20 = 3.0 in text file
3.12 = 2.9 in text file
3.05 = 2.8 in text file
3.00 = 2.7 in text file
2.98 = 2.6 in text file
2.90 = 2.5 in text file
2.85 = 2.4 in text file
2.75 = 2.3 in text file
2.65 = 2.2 in text file
2.65 = 2.1 in text file
2.60 = 2.0 in text file
2.50 = 1.9 in text file
2.45 = 1.8 in text file
2.43 = 1.7 in text file
2.30 = 1.6 in text file
2.30 = 1.5 in text file
2.20 = 1.4 in text file
2.20 = 1.3 in text file
2.20 = 1.2 in text file
2.05 = 1.1 in text file
2.00 = 1.0 in text file
1.95 = 0.9 in text file
1.90 = 0.8 in text file
1.85 = 0.7 in text file
1.75 = 0.6 in text file
1.70 = 0.5 in text file
1.65 = 0.4 in text file
1.63 = 0.3 in text file
1.55 = 0.2 in text file
1.47 = 0.1 in text file
1.40 = 0 in text file

You would adjust the date files like this:

Original
RG Nadkarni,191,-6,40.36,-1,6399,76.8,1.67,3,3,100,

Adjusted
RG Nadkarni,191,-6,40.36,-1,6399,76.8,0.42,3,3,100,

Nadkarni's career bowling economy rate is 1.67 per over but in VC4 such a number would result in an economy rate of between 2.3 to 2.4 per over. The adjusted economy rate of 0.42 should produce an economy rate of 1.65 or so in the game (Depending upon circumstances. In this game Nadkarni averaged 1.47 per over. The more games you play, the more that economy rates will meet the levels outlined above.)

---------

Any number below zero (eg -0.01 to -999) results in a run rate of 1.4.

It appears that bowlers cannot be more expensive than 4.25 runs per over."

Here's the part about batting averages:

"Batting rates adjusted

If you haven't worked out already, batting averages in the game are a bit strange.If your player has a batting average of 38 or lower, their average will come up one point higher during the game (check this: match --> play match --> click use manual team selection -->; manual team selection).

Even more strangely, batsmen with an average above 38 have their batting averages drastically reduced.

This is the standard text file for county cricket 2007 that you will see when you open the text file:

Notice that Simon Katich has a batting average of 51.98 in the file. But what happens during the game? This:

Katich's batting average has declined to 48!

I don't know why this goes on, but I have worked out some of the more important batting adjustments you can make, and here they are:

@Jagar you have not made afghanistan why
I made the 2014 ODI squads largely from memory of the games, haven't seen any Afghanistan games so wasn't sure which players to include for this years squad. I have a more meticulous method for selecting players to include in squads now though. I'll make a 2015 World Cup file at some point in the (hopefully) near future.

The template the program uses is:

The data should be arranged as follows with all values separated by a comma:
$
Type of Data: 1 = limited overs file, 3 = test match file
Number of Squads (maximum 25)
Team name
Players in squad (maximum 25)
Player Name(Maximum of 17 characters including spaces),matches,batting position (minus if batting in default team), batting average, -1 here(Strike rate was not implemented by the developer),overs bowled, bowling strike rate, economy, bowling position, style (1 = fast, 2 = medium, 3 = spin, -1 = wicket keeper (can only put one wicket keeper in the first XI), play rate (not sure what this value does, I just put 90 here),

So for Viv Richards this template would read as:

Viv Richards,121,-4,50.23,-1,861,161.5,2.27,7,3,43,

It's a bit finicky at first, but quite easy to get the hang of
