Ritwik requested something like a OpenGL teaching resource somewhere, which I also was on lookout for.
Here it is:

there are also two other books, the blue book and yellow book.Would look for them too :cheers

edit: whoops, found the blue book too.its the refrence manual, but v1.1
http://www.rush3d.com/reference/opengl-bluebook-1.0/

now, all that's left is the yellow book, wonder what's that for?

NOTE: it seems like yellow book doesn't exist.there is no trace of it, and no mention too in the other books.

First way of becoming a games programmer is to complete a really simple program - be it something as basic as "Hello, World!" in Visual Basic or a simple version of "Tic-Tac-Toe". Basically, start of on simple projects that you can reach an end with. Don't rush in and start of trying to program the next great first person shooter.

The main reason why people fail to finish projects is because they become frustrated with a lack of progress. Not because they lack the skills required. That's why its best to start off with smaller projects before moving onto larger ones - the skills you will learn on smaller projects will easily translate to larger ones in the future.

As far as money and working conditions go in the games industry, don't be surprised to work very long hours for less money then you would get if say you were developing financial programs in the city. You have to have a real passion for games, and if you do, you'll probably enjoy it.
