IPL What do you think now? PCB to lodge complaint with ICC?

So ICC will force franchises to buy Pakistan players? :facepalm
ICC will be sued for its entire worth in court if it happens.

All 8 franchise owners combine have more money than ICC combined (including BCCI).

Even if his IPL is not telecast in Pakistan's cable, there will be lot of people who will be following it (discreetly!) from Pakistan. And the kind of publicity that it has got is HUGE!!

That means trolling on Youtube and saying, "What a rubbish match! I'm sure if our players would've been picked the result would have been different. Look at that. What a poor shot from <insert name here>. Had Umar Akmal been picked in his place, he would've played maturely!" :sarcasm

I second that.

No. What does ICC do if Ipl franchises don't buy pakistanis? Do they have power to stop ipl. The only way they can convince modi is the ICC should grant a window for ipl. And after that, modi creates some rule like "each team should have atleast one player from all the test playing nations"

Just like you can express your love for Modi/IPL so can the Pakistanis or anyone else express their hate for the 2.

Hypocrisy much :sarcasm

This seems to be your standard argument. Keep it up :clap

That sounds like a very clever man who actually has his head and decency both switched on. Good on him for telling it how it is, and not being a lying scum bag.

The Pak players would have commanded a premium for being World Champs. Why would anyone just buy them for 1 season ?

Why wouldn't you? You can always make a bid for the guy next year. Its done on a regular basis in North American sports. More often then not these 1 year players are the key on most of the championship teams.

Whats my standard argument? Yours is "IPL is amazing, half of international cricketers were found in the IPL, everyone loves IPL and other bs like that"

Pakistan players should have been picked - Shah Rukh Khan | Cricket News | Indian Premier League 2010 | Cricinfo.com

One of my arguments...Seems like the owners wanted Pakistani players but were told otherwise, contrary to your arguments RDF.
I think you misread the article. In particular, this quote summarizes exactly what most people on this forum are saying:

Shah Rukh Khan said:
"I am not giving an excuse and I truly believe Pakistani players are the best T20 players in the world. They are the champions. They are wonderful. But somewhere down the line there is an issue and we cannot deny it," he said. "There is an issue, we cannot keep saying 'Oh this was wrong'. Yes maybe the way it was done was wrong, the way it is being carried out may be wrong. But you can't keep on saying Koi issue nahi hai yaar, woh aa jate (There isn't any issue, they could have come). There is an issue, let's not deny it. Every day we blame Pakistan, every day they blame us, it is an issue."

Basically what Shah Rukh is saying is that the Pakistan players would have been picked if there was no issue with them coming. The issue is obviously with them coming as given the political situation, franchise owners wouldn't be sure that at the time of the tournament, visas would be issued. "Yes maybe the way it was done was wrong..." -- this quote itself demonstrates that he didn't like the way the Pakistan players were ignored, but that it happened because franchise owners had to protect their investment.

To summarize, the "issue" isn't that franchise owners were told not to pick Pakistan players, but that it didn't make sense to pick a Pakistani player and not have him come, hence missing out a pick on another player, who was more likely to be a part of the tournament.

I think Indian Government did not have any hand in not choosing the Pakistani Player's.

It's franchise's decision.. There was also no bid for Haddin and other great players.... Unfortunate not to have Afridi in any team.. but only 4 OS player's will be playing...

No place for afridi in playing XI the owner's must have thought...

Let's Look

If Pakistan players had been chosen, they would have said we need money,if money was given they would have said we need better facilities,if those were given too, they would have gone back home saying PCB is not granting us Visa due to security reasons as it is not safe to play in India.

The PCB does not grant Indian visas, the Indian government does.
