What to do with a boy like Andrew?

Should Strauss be dropped? Well he hasn't been that good of late, infact for quite a while.

Yikes, i wasn't going by Stats but they are pretty bare. Clearly his good average has been bolstered by the start of his career. Also, i know he scored 2 centuries against warney in 2005, but he doesnt seem to like spin too much (maybe why he gets starts and doesnt go on) so Kumble may cause a few worries for him.

If he gets to Kumble that is...

Seriously if Fred was fit it'd be a simple change with some order rework (Prior at 6 and Fred at 7).

Let's be fair to Strauss, during the 2005 Ashes series and the 2007 Ashes series, he did happen to be on the end on some on Shane Warne's best deliveries of the series'.

True he did, but thats got to leave a lasting effect. I'm sure Cullinan started copping a ripper from Warne, and then it stayed in his mind for his whole career. Say Jumble gets Strauss early on if he plays against India, thats going to leave a mark without a doubt.

I think there is a big difference in your mental state when your playing Kumble to when your playing Warne.
Warne comes with a theatre and big expectations around his bowling, Whilst Warne does bowl some incredibly deliveries, a batsman judgement is also clouded by situation and Warne's mental play. Warne will scream and shout about a **** ball if you don't put it away.

Whereas Kumble isn't as threatening in that manner. Whilst Kumble has an excellent record, He doesn't spring to mind as one of the best, he's almost the forgotten man. Plus, Kumble doesn't tend to play the card of the mental battle, whereas that's how Warne gets half of his wickets.

While i agree with you on the differences between Kumble and Warne's 'behaviour', I think Warne has done the damage to Strauss that is going to bear in Kumble's favour regardless of how he sledges, or doesn't sledge, Strauss. Also, it may cause Strauss to try and attack more to get a few on the board before Kumble comes into the attack. I think if Strauss plays against India it is going to be VERY entertaining in one way or another.

15 in the first innings, 0 in the second?

OH BURN. But seriously, I think it's only a matter of time before his form improves...but ONLY if he spends the time his form is off playing in actual matches. The question is, can England afford to have someone in their opening pair at the quality Strauss is currently playing. Regardless, I think England can afford to leave him in his position for the 4th WI test...it shouldn't really hurt them. Hopefully he can show some progress before the India series. Meanwhile, about all this talk of Warne's Ashes performance permanantly damaging Andy's psyche...bah, I don't want to give Warne that much credit. ;)
