Who would be your next England Manager?

He wont leave Newcastle for a couple of years, especially for England.

Martin Jol, Glenn Roader or Gareth Southgate tbh :p. But seriously, Jose would be fantastic, as would Harry Redknapp. Also, Matt, you said you want someone who's not a boring, characterless arsehole who lacks charisma, then you didnt go on to mention that Steve Coppell would be a good choice ? Is there manager in the world with more charisma than him ?

Yep i agree. Get Jose in there. Bring some character and passion into English football.

I saw a docu today on ESPN Classics about England managers and I still can't believe we got rid of El Tel! Just think where we might be now if we didn't let the stuffed suits at the FA and the press hound him out! Not clinging to qualification by our fingernails, that's for sure!

Reeeeeally overrated. Failed to get Australia to the world cup (funny, yes, but not good for the cv) and has generally been gash everywhere he's been since, with the possible exception of half a season at Middlesboro. In over 30 years as a coach all he's done is get promotion with Palace, win the Spanish league once and the FA Cup with the Spuds once.

& it may have escaped your attention, but he's McClaren's no. 2 right now! :p It was supposedly his bright idead for us to switch to 3-5-2 for the Croatia game too and we saw how well that worked out.

I would like to see Harry Redknapp made the England manager. He is a straight-talking, no-nonsense manager with a record that speaks for itself. If The Football Association decide to look abroad, there can be nobody else than Jose Mourinho. I have had enough of this Phil Scolari and Guus Hiddink rubbish - I couldn't think of two less interesting managers.

England can't have Glenn Roeder! He will not be allowed to leave Norwich until they are back where they belong in the Premier League and, from recent performances, that could take 5 years.

I agree, if we can't get Jose, we should give the job to Redknapp (Harry, that is!!!!!)

That Scolari bloke is pretty good. Just need to make sure they don't mistake him for doesn't travel on the london underground very often with him being Brazilian and all.

hes finally gone! the ginger winger has been saced! good riddence! he didnt even have the balls to quit, he had to be pushed over the edge, he must of REALLY wanted his severance pay! not only has he totally failed in his job, but hes a money gabbing failer

Steve McClaren is nothing more than a mediocre club manager. Never was he going to succeed as an International team manager. You looked at him and saw a man who was not capable of handling these big name players. He was not capable of enspiring confidence into the players and was tactically inept. His final game as manager of Middlesbrough showed how poor he was. Finals are meant to be tight, nervy occasions, instead that Uefa Cup Final turned into a joke and Ramos proved that our future England Manager was never going to succeed at the highest level.

He thought he was ballsy by dropping Beckham, but what a plonker that made him look. He also thought he was ballsy by dropping Robinson last night too, no need to guess how that made him look.

Steve McClaren is a good coach, but never will he succeed as a manager. Dont be suprised to see him managing Birmingham soon.

Lippi, Cappello or Jose. Simple. The current crop of English managers arent up to it yet.

I wouldn't mind big Sam as he deserved it more than the guy who got it but he's ruled himself out. Jose would obviously be first choice, I don't know how well it would go down in portugal but Capello and Lippi would be good. I think Lippi speaks good English as apparently he and Fergie talk a lot and although apparently fergie wants him for the united job when he steps down I'd like to see him managing England. He's proven at international level, would have no bias to any players and is a top class manager. Really I would love to see Jose get it, fergie finish his united career in the next few years having had a strong finish and Jose step down with England world champion to take the united job. Well we can all dream.

KP if Holloway gets it Milan Mandaric would commit suicide. Give it to martin Allen, must be one of the only managers sacked after a 4-1 defeat and he had the players working in the club shop etc. He wouldn't put up with overpaid wimps like Lampard and Gerrard

I think everyone is overlooking the perfect management team ;)
