Willow.tv announces monthly subscription at $15/mo

So let me guess this straight (I'm n00by with technology) to save me having to buy Sky Sports solely for cricket, I can buy this thing for $15 a month and watch nearly every international series that would be televised? Who's the broadcaster? Is it whoever has the rights to that particular series?

I'm pretty sure it's North America only, since your local broadcasters will have the rights to broadcast in the UK. I may be wrong, though, and Willow.tv may have worldwide online rights. You'd have to check.

This is cheaper than NBA League Pass Online. I paid about $100 last season for League Pass for 7 teams. The NBA season is about 5.5 months so that's > $15 a month.

Yeah, I just checked through the T&C's cos it looked like a pretty good deal but I read this;

You represent that you are a resident of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. At the present time, residents of other countries are not eligible to register for CRICKETTICKET. If Willow TV believes that you have provided false information or failed to notify Willow TV of any changes to your location, Willow TV reserves the right to terminate your access to the Subscription Services immediately without notice or refund, as applicable.

Yeah, it should be mainly North America only *unless Willow.tv specifies otherwise*.

Loving the archive of video as well. Just about any match played in the last 2 years is available with full replay. Watched part of the Lords Ashes Test last night

Well, presumably they would notice that your IP address is not based in the US and prevent you from registering at all. That and the fact that when you pay, the address associated with it would have to be in the US as well.

Proxy server and fake (or friend's) address.

;)

Just a thought. Those of you who bought it, can stream and earn money. Just open up a website and BANG. ;)

My brother has Direct Tv, lives a block away. So I am good to go, for at least 1 more year.

Nope, skin whitening, I thought it was just a one off but almost every 3rd commercial is for "fairness cream" or skin whitening. Its quite sickening

Most of them are for guys.

That won't work unless you use the same proxy server every time because I'm pretty sure Willow.tv stores your IP to make sure you aren't sharing your account with other people.

Apart from that, streaming a video through a proxy is unlikely to get you very good results, so you'd be better off actually paying for a TV subscription or watching it on one of the illegal sites.

15 bucks a month is less than what most people pay for Internet. If one can't afford that, then maybe they should be sticking just to the illegal streams since they're incredibly cheap. Don't forget that streaming that feed is considered illegal by the Willow.tv EULA and hence any further discussion of that will be deleted.

You can just claim that you're watching the video from work, which is perfectly acceptable. Then you can say you're at a friend's house, then you can say you're in a hotel, etc.

Also, to be fairly honest sohum, I don't think Willow give a damn as long as they get their money. Legally, they have to have a system in place, but honestly I think they'd be happier if people were buying it overseas as that is more money for them.

*I think.

I dunno about all that, Willow are Nazis. I logged in from my laptop while my desktop was still logged on and they locked my account, even though it was the same IP.

I had to email them and get it sorted, they seem very strict.
