England have won the 1st Test against Zimbabwe at Lords.

England 1st Innings: 472 all out (Butcher 137)
Zimbabwe 1st Innings: 147 all out (Anderson 5/73)
Zimbabwe 2nd Innings (Following on): 233 all out

Mark Butcher was man of the match after an excellent all-round performance, taking 4 wickets in the 2nd Innings following on from one in the first. Anthony McGrath also put an an all-round performance after his 69 in Englands Innings, he took 3/16 when bowling in the 2nd Innings.

England have announced the squad for the second test against Zimbabwe. The squad is the team who played the 1st test, without the injured Matthew Hoggard. In his place will be either James Kirtley or Richard Johnson.

Ireland win by 10 wickets

Zimbabwe avoided another embarassing defeat today by beating Ireland in the 2nd match of the 2 match series.

Result

Ireland: 196 all out
Zimbabwe: 199/2

The series is tied 1-1.

Neither match in the series was a ODI.

In related news, the ECB have said that any application by the ICU (Irish cricket association) to join the English National League, would not be considered until 2005, with Ireland not being able to join until 2006.

hey ireland looks like a nice team but cant really judge by the way zim r performing.I think staurt carlile cant face good bowling he is good againt the lesser teams but looks like a joker in the zim line up he is probly like Dinesh mongia(i hate him)gautam gambhir(him aswell) and abijit kale(him aswell).Some class players perform against good teams like Craig mcmilan(i love him) and brian lara(i favratiate batsman).And the third categery who perform agint both good and bad teams like rahul dravid(i love)he is a absulute example for versetaileness.After all he is a man and has very minor weekness like inswinging yorker and very few times out swinging caught behind otherwise he is absulte class with style like michael vaughn(one of my favroite players).

Ray Price had the excellent figures of 3/20 from his 10 overs. The match was notable for the man who was captaining Essex..... none other than Andy Flower! :o
