Brilliant writing, this is going pretty exciting. And yeah, just remember to include Sharks in the marine zoo, I know I'll have a great time managing them.
With January out of the way, I could now look to February. First thing on the agenda was to get the training out of the way. By this time we had already established another bunch of people to attend forming eleven staff members. Whilst at the training, I had my friend see over the construction of the first exhibit. Once the fence was put up, a group of, I've been assured, the best landscapers set about turning the plain boring old grass into a sandy desert. My plan was to have one of the smallest four legged creatures at the front so as it would be easier to see.
With the exhibit well under way and upon my return to oversee the rest of the months plans, I decided it was best to slowly start bringing the staff in. First up was a man known as Bigg E the one and only Maintenance Worker for the time being. He's a fit young bloke, appearing to be well capable to taking on a big load of work. In my opinion right man for the job. (And thats before seeing him do any work, Boy I am a faithful boss.) Secondly was User2010 hired as a Zookeeper. He has first reponsibility in the care taking and wellbeing of our first animal, the illustrious Fennec Fox.
Tiny in size, but with those big extrasensory ears, I thought it to be an excellent start to our campaign. And of course, the best way to start is through the conservation of an endangered species. User's first task is to name the two foxes we bring in. Bearing in mind the fact that one is male and the other is female for breeding purposes. User, a man of tall stature, and a brain like no other, tested my knowledge at the training session, as did I to him. We talked for hours about the effects releasing an animal bred in zoos into the wild. I quite enjoyed his company and his views, they were somewhat political and conservatory.
The next task was to add a pony ride for the kids, you know little kids love ponies. I decided that we needed a gift shop as well. I've heard that they are very popular and bring in some moolah. With February drawing to a close, we hadn't quite achieved the target yet. There was one final thing to do, and that was to plant some desert like trees around the Fennec Fox exhibit just so the guests felt like they were in the same environment as the little critters.
March look to be more promising, however. With still a little bit of money left over from the cash grant, March certainly looked promising. I won't tell you the plans i don't want to spoil it. The latest look at the Zoo account card.
Side Note: User could you post some names for your fennec foxes.
to the rest of you don't panic you will be put in eventually
EDIT: Apologies for short amount of writing. I had a bit of writers block. lol i had ideas but nothing would work together. next update will be better
I had big plans for the month of March. Two new exhibits were to be built. Steph decided we would get the Meerkats done first then go on to do the California Sea Lions next. But to spend more money I wanted to put in an Educator's post. A small one, but nonetheless a much needed addition. In my zoo I don't want our paying guests to just come and see the animals, I want them to take something out of the information we share with them. Supposedly sometime this month too, we would be expecting a visit from the Director of the National Conservation and Protection Agency, or more well known as NCPA. Oh Great they send someone out when we currently have one exhibit, stroke of genius that is.
Days were going by and I had to bring in some of my expert Zookeepers. For our Meerkats I brought in Covvy, a leading expert on these furry little creatures. i recently read his newest book on them. It was both intriguing and inspirational. Well I thought it was. It's hard to believe that one man could survive in the conditions that he did in one the harshest deserts in Africa. Anyway enough ranting about a book. In the meantime, though, the exhibit to be named Meerkat manor was nearing completion all that was needed was the animals.
Later that night I received a phone call. It was Bigg E telling me I urgently need to get down to the zoo asap. So without asking why I raced down. Upon arriving I found Bigg E waiting for me out front. He said "I'm sorry boss, I wouldn't rang unless i thought it couldn't wait." So once he showed what had him so concerned, I immediately started making phone calls. The Californian Sea Lions we were expecting hadn't come instead we received a pair of Grey Wolves. Apparently though, our partner that sent them had been given a different schedule as to what was supposed to be sent when. Fortunately we recieved our Meerkats as the exhibit was done.
The next day, in fact the next week became an eventful one. Not only did we have to change the Seal Lion exhibit to accomodate the Wolves but I had to start the Educator post. I was forced to. Steph had started to get fed up with me just standing there watching. So I set about constructing the Educator Post in which Bevab would be located. Hopefully sharing his knowledge to our aspiring visitors. By the end of the day though it was finished and even Steph was impressed. All was going well until we got our inevitable visit from NCPA. The Director herself I might add. Quite an attractive women too. Steph looked at me and just shook her head. She knew what I was thinking. I had to work my charm on her as early as possible.
We walked around the offices then onto the carpark. As we walked Steph had to go pick up her son from school as Darren was working late. So it was just me and this stunningly attractive Director of a conservation agency, named Renee. Between her constant questions about our practices and conservation efforts, we did manage to get talking about more personal things. That was until we came to the Educator Post to find Bevab standing there taking photos of himself on his Iphone. I was then seemingly interrogated as to why an educator was standing there when he could be doing something useful.
I had to think quick so I diverted the conversation to our new Wolf enclosure, which by that time was just about ready for the pair of wolves. By this time i ahd to call up world renowned Wolf man Abhishek Sharma. The man who has lived amongst Wolves his entire life. Honestly I've become a big fan of the man. I own all of his documentaries on the Wolf Heirarchy and how they behave. Now back to the matter at hand. Whislt I was on the phone Renee had forced at clipboard and a pen in front of my face then gesturing me to sign here, here, here and here.
Once off the phone Renee and I got talking again while we watched as the Wolves were placed in their new home. You know for someone of high importance she wasn't dressed as much. She wore boot cut blue/grey denim jeans and pink/yellow tank top. Wow am I getting distracted or what. Anyway before I too carried away, I yelled out to Covvy to remind him to name his four Meerkats. Two male and two female. Then i texted Abhishek to remind him to name his two furry friends male and female.
The zoo was ready for Opening and Renee stayed at mine for the night as she didn't want to miss it. And before you say anything, no nothing happened. Yet. The next day I arrived at the zoo to find myself swamped by paparazzi with flashing lights and loud murmuring that i couldn't even understand what they were asking. After an hour or so, we finally cut the rope and the papaarzzi buggered off. It wasn't before we received our first guest walking through the front gates.
We did, however, spend alot of money this month. As we are currently in the red. But I have come to discover that our loss is based on the cash grant we were given. So Hopefully now we could earn a profit and be back in black. And just to top it off I decided to ask Renee out to dinner that same night. Thankfully for me she agreed.
Could abhishek, covvy and user please come up with some names for your animals
April. Things were starting to look good for us. I mean, we have animals, we have suitable exhibits. We have guests. And as a surprise inclusion one of User's Fennec Foxes was pregnant. About halfway through I think. But none the less this was really exciting our first baby animal and the zoo barely open. I couldn't contain myself, I had to call Steph. No answer, hmmm odd. Aw well I'm sure she was just busy. Anyway this month's productions were going to take abit of time but hopefully not take too much money. The plans were to build an exhibit for some African Buffalo. It was going to be alot harder to bring in alot of wetland specific pieces. They were getting harder and harder to come by and I'll be needing them again later on.
Well I can't stand here complaining about it, it's time to get down to business. Not only were we constructing an exhibit we had some other special things to do. I finally decided it was time to bring in the big guns. I needed entertainment. So in doing so I called up the one funny man I knew. Alvin Raymond. I needed his opinion oh how he wanted his stage set up, and well you can't entertain people with nothing to entertain them with. We got that sorted quite easily and quickly as the area had already been fenced off and paved. Once Alvin had decided how he wanted his set up, I set about getting the construction started on the new research lab and Dino education stand. In the meantime there was news that User's Fennec Fox had given birth to a little male. Taking a break we all raced down to have a look
User couldn't stop grinning at the sight of the little guy. You could easily tease him and call him names but you could not wipe that smile off his face. Just as we thought we couldn't get anymore good news, both Covvy and Abhishek had great news of their own Covvy's dominant female Snow was pregnant as was Abhishek Grey Wolf. We were all estatic. We all headed back to the offices to finalise the conservation agreement on releasing any animals into the wild. In that instance i completely forgot about the other conservation buildings i had planned for. Luckily Alvin's stage was done and the Buffalo exhibit was near complete. I instructed most of the builders to head on over and complete the conservation buildings. Most moaned and groaned because they had only gotten like three hours sleep or something.
But anywho, with the stage completed and now one less thing to worry about, I finally had time to call up and old friend. Jono the Paleontologist. Always walked around High School with a brush and a chisel, digging up rocks. Got himself suspended a few times. But for the job I wanted done, there was no better man than him. With April drawing to a close and the Buffalo enclosure still not completed. I was starting to get frustrated. That was until I received a phone call from one Renee of the NCPA. She was ringing to tell me she was coming to visit the zoo as a paying guest, and that she look forward to seeing me again. Our "professional" relationship was startng to become more and more personal by the day.
At long last the Buffalo exhibit was finished and the Buffalo's were being unloaded from the truck. Steph rang shortly after to tell me the Buffalo's Zookeeper was starting and that his name was Aidan Callagari or something. I was told to be nice as well. Be nice I'm always nice. It wasn't too long after i got off the phone that a young bulky looking man approached me and it had to be at the same time i caught Bevab taking photos of grass. I was starting to get furious. Without realising I demanded to know who this man was. Until I finally realised who it was. It was Aidan our Buffalo keeper. He came a little early for what I had anticipated but at least I knew who he was now.
It was now the last day of April and we were done in the red by over $100,000 but I wasn't worried. I was out walking the zoo, when suddenly a familiar face approached me. I bet you can all guess who it is. But on that subject I will go no further for now.
