T20 WC Final: Pakistan v Sri Lanka

Its tough being a neutral supporter. Who to support? Both have hads their fair share of problems and issues that rage outside the realm of cricket. It would be perfect if both raise the trophy by drawing the match and the super over.

Its goota be SriLanka on the basis of form. Sril Lanka havent even looked like losing. Pakistan are too inconsistent - they will crack. SriLanka's bolwing is vastly superior to Pakistan. With Murali, Mendhis and Malinga - three of the best 2020 bowlers in the world. Pakistan have Gul and that about it. Afridi has performed well, but his career has shown he is very inconsistent. Jut like Pakistan in general.

Plus I think that Sri Lanka deserve to win, especially considering it was only months ago they nearly all got killed due to Pakistan deliberately providing the poorest security for them. They were literally left to die. This can never be forgotten.

I guess send2yaari is correct depending on how you look at it - the Pakistani pacers (and spinners - an economy of 5.50 is not bad) have controlled the game, while the Sri Lankans have attacked and gone for wickets with their pacemen. Although prehaps the stats are a little skewed with Mathews 3 wicket opening over that was really gifted to him by the Windies (it was good bowling, but 3 inside edges?)

The problem is just in defining groups. Overall, Pakistan concede less runs, Sri Lanka have better strike-rates. If you want to go in closer, it's not really accurate to say that the Sri Lankan spinners are being more attacking; Mendis is doing both the roles of attacking and keeping runs down; Murali on the other hand is behind each of Pakistan's spinners on both strike-rate and economy.

Similarly, there is great variance in the statistics of the pace bowlers. Strategically, there is a massive difference between the opening bowlers in each team and the likes of Umar Gul or Lasith Malinga. Pakistan's opening bowlers are 3 times less penetrative than Umar Gul. For Sri Lanka, their greatest problem may be whether they can get tight overs from Udana.

Pakistan will win this for sure, beating RSA was a big job done that too pretty well. They know how to play Ajantha Mendis and Malinga, so won't be having problems against them, and should win

I'm glad Sri Lanka are in this otherwise it would have been West Indies and Pakistan.

Sri Lanka will have the edge having not lost a game so far, and having beaten Pakistan already in the Super 8's. Anway as Supershtuffthat said, Pakistan did give Sri Lanka poor security during their tour. They deserve the win. GO SRI LANKA!!!:banana:banana2

I wont be disappointed if either wins. Its ironic that the two nations that have suffered in recent times due to terrorism have come to the finals here. One nation is going to rejoice being world champions in this format of cricket.

Hmmm... PAK is an unstable side at the moment with Shahzaib Hasan not doing well and one must really question Fawad Alam's role in the team. But,then again,as younis khan said,T20 is like WWF (poor pandas) and anything can happen.

I don't understand why some members said that srilanka should win because they deserve,they deserve for what its final and both teams are equally god and deserving.May better team on the Day win.
