Which foreign player would complete your national side

Steyn for India seems good. But I'll prefer Jerome Taylor over Steyn :)

For the above by Hmarka, I would probably replace Steyn with Bond, but that is just me. I really like what he does.

Both Steyn and Bond have averages below 23 and had Bond played as many matched im sure he would have a similar number in the wickets taken column.

However seeing that Steyn has taken 5fers in South Africa, India, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka that puts him over Bond for me.

Bond has played Tests in all the same countries (except Pakistan) and has only managed to get 5fers in NZ, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Not sure how great a comparison system this really is but that is how I reach my decision. Also took into account that Steyn has way less injury problems and still a decent amount of time left in his Test career. Bond might not make it past the AUS series in 2010.

Jerome Taylor has miles to go before he can be compared to Dale Steyn, it would be a miracle if he ever averaged in the 20s let alone anywhere near the 23 that Steyn averages

Hmm. Agreed. But he's a better bat than Steyn and an insanely fast and accurate bowler too :)

Well in the context of this exercise, I have not taken into consideration their batting capabilities. Remember I picked Dale Steyn for India, their batting is strong enough to where they would not need to rely on the leader of the seam attack to make runs.

For Sri Lanka I can see how a Taylor or Mitchell Johnson (StinkyBohoon's suggestion) would be better as it would help shorten their tail. India on the other hand need no strengthening of their tail, and thus Dale Steyn who averages almost 15 less than J Taylor

Dale Steyn isn't that bad with the bat anyway. He scored valuable runs against us and his technique is decent.

Id rate Steyn's 70 odd against AUS (Johnson in his prime) higher than Taylors 100 against NZ

I'd love to see someone like Chris Gayle open for England; aggressive, arrogant, attitude!

Will take any batsman who averages over 40 and can catch for Pakistan.

Jokes apart, I think Paulie Colly should be picked. Great with the bat, ball, field and the trap :p.

Surprised no one's mentioned him

Graeme Smith. New Zealand's main problem in test cricket is that we don't have a decent opening batsmen. Smith has a career average of 50 and in his only tour of New Zealand scored 290 runs at 58 (Afterall we need someone that can score in New Zealand).
