Which foreign player would complete your national side

I'd love to see someone like Chris Gayle open for England; aggressive, arrogant, attitude!
We have tried the whole arrogant, attitude guy and the whole country got on his back and made his life hell.

I will pick Anderson for Nehra and someone like Sangakkara for India. Anderson has a decent ablity of moving the bowl both ways. Infact his inswinger to a right handed batsman deserves applause.

1) You can only pick one player.
2) Why in the world do you need Sangakarra? Your middle order doesn't need filling in, and you have Dhoni!

^^^ Sanga showed the difference between him and Dhoni today. He went overboard with aggression and the result- he threw his wicket away when the team needed him to stay there. Dhoni quit doing this 2 yrs back :clap

His side needed 400 to win! Sanga did an absolutely fantastic job of getting his side close!

Who cares about ODI's? It's about the long format of the game, and Sangakarra is one of the best players in the world. He has scored runs against every opposition and in all conditions. Dhoni hasn't done much outside of the sub-continent. He has much to prove. You can't even compare both of them. Sangakarra is a much better player.

New Zealand could do with some capable openers at the test level. I saw Smith and Gambhir mentioned but I wouldn't mind Strauss opening the batting for us.

I second that request :p

But Watling is for the future and McIntosh ... well lets just leave it at that :laugh

Did he win it for them? :sarcasm

There's a difference between getting close and winning the game :clap.

Dhoni wins games :clap

The last time Dhoni chased a 350+ score he didn't do ████.

Sangakarra did his job. He got the run rate under seven and with 8 wickets in hand, they should have finished it off. I didn't see people saying the same thing when Sachin scored 170. So why does it apply to Sangakarra? It was the middle order's fault. Sanath and Mahela are the two most experianced and they both got out in ridiculous ways. Can't blame Sangakarra for their mistakes. The two most senior batsman in the side let him down, and thus two younger inexperienced batsman had to try and take them home, but the pressure got to them, like it would with any un-experienced player in that situation. Cricket is a 11 man sport. Everybody has their role, and the top three played their role. They setup the game and Sri Lanka should have cruised. So you can't say anything about the way the top three played especially Sangakarra.

Jacques Kallis then there'd be no silly thoughts of playing Luke Wright.

If you hadn't actually noticed, I said why would you want Sanga over Dhoni? :facepalm

He didn't have to win it for them, he was chasing down 400! Why don't you put all the blame on Dilshan for not getting more runs? Why not Jaywardena for getting out for not very many? How about Kandamby for not grounding his bat?

You can't single out Sanga for not winning the game for his side, you make it sound he is the only player out there, other people are there to pull their weight, in no way it is Sanga's fault he didn't win the game for them, he isn't superman. He put them in a position to win the game, the rest faultered. Don't blame Sanga.

Please go create a Dhoni vs Sanga thread and leave it out of this one.

Also guys please pick a name and one name only, its part of the fun.

Techincally, we are debating your question, As to wether or not they should switch Sanga for Dhoni. :sarcasm

Thanks a lot Hmarka.
Was just gonna post the same thing.

And for India,I think any fast bowler (may be Malinga or Steyn or someone) would do the job as the bolwing attack looks flat.

I took it more of a debate over the ODI last night and whether or not Sanga lost it.
