IPL The Grand Finale Discussion Thread |25 april, 8 PM| DY Patil Stadium

The teams that I support always lose. I was supporting KKR since 2008, look what happened to them these 3 seasons. For this semi-final I was supporting RCB and they lost. For this match I was supporting MI and they lost too. I just have bad luck with me.

Was funny how many balls Hayden left, looked like a Test match :doh

I think its time for Hayden to call quits on IPL and have a fun life after cricket. It was evident that he is just not the same Hayden anymore. After watching him plunder in IPL-I and II, it was tough watching him scratch around this IPL. Same with Gilchrist. Both should retire from IPL and put their legs up.

Love both Haydos and Gilly, but their time is up. It was painful watching them both bat these last few matches, just like their last few tests. At least we got to see them adapt to the new format before they left and give it a red hot go. I wouldve liked to see Langer play IPL, he could spank it when he wanted to.

what was the MI management thinking sending Harbhajan, Ryudu and Duminy ahead of Pollard :doh. Even when they needed 65 off 30 balls, they did not send in Pollard who was the only guy who could have done it for them :facepalm. There was something fishy about this match :spy

Had gone to the stadium and it was disappointing.
CSK didn't deserve the cup!

It's happened two times in a row now. Mumbai was by far the best team of the tournament. And when it mattered the most, they lost. Same thing happened with Delhi last year. They didn't even manage to reach the finals despite being fantastic throughout the group matches.

Makes me wonder, if we'll ever find an alternative to the knockout stages of a big tournament. We should have 'best of three' finals in every major tournament IMO.

I am with you.

Is The IPL Concept Fair Enough? I dont think it is fair at all. Very Bad Concept of the IPL

I am not getting what MI Team Management was thinking about when they sent Nayar at No.3 and Harbhajan at no. 4. Tiwary and Rayudy should have came at no. 3 & 4. Duminy is best at no.5 an Pollard at no. 6. Duminy can't play big shots on every ball, he was wasted at no. 7. Rayudu couldn't handle pressure. Pollard came when 17th over ended and 55 runs needed. It was so late. I am feeling pity for Sachin who tried hard with his injured hand and played 48 runs knock. But on the other hand, Nayar should have take risks and played big shots. But he wanted to play for himself, seems. :facepalm

Good captaincy by MSD again, well-planned things executed well under pressure. Playing with 4 spinners on such a track was a good move. Pollard got trapped at mid-off due to awesome leadership from Dhoni. :clap

MI's fielding was pathetic too. Dropped Raina's 2 simple catches by experienced players Fernando & Zaheer.

MI gave away win to CSK in final. Nonetheless, good efforts throughout the tournament by MI.

CONGRATULATIONS, CHENNAI SUPER KINGS !!! :hpraise

Sorry but if you choke at the pressure end of a tournament YOU are to blame. Crikey. Actually two words sum this up- South Africa. Pressure end chokers supreme.

Hey, stop making excuses Tendulkar/Mumbai fans. You couldn't perform when it mattered most. Dhoni himself said it's a bit of a lottery system after the league matches. I would prefer it to be that way. Makes the tournament far more exciting. Having a final just gives it a little bit more importance to me. Mumbai had the chance to win the match. They lost it by dropping Raina twice and sending in Pollard so late. These are basic stuff that Mumbai got wrong. You should be able to do these things day in day out.

Best of three? Interesting concept, but the IPL already has way too many matches. Why add two more? Remove the home-away games and just make it one leg in the group stages. This will reduce the number of matches, make the tournament less of a drag towards the end and also allow for the best of 3 (or rather, first to two) to be implemented.

Inspirational performance by the CSk team. Nobody thought they would win and most of the people were going for Mumbai. But they have come up with the title in the end. Well deserved Dhoni! Oofff Mumbai! They did not sent Pollard earlier.:facepalm

You know how I sum up the BS MI did yesterday, with the batting lineup, despite the dropped catches, "something fishy" went on!! You see had it been in Pakistan that crap had happen, the media would run with it and say match fixing!!!
How on earth did the management of MI including the captain could have allowed this, Pollard to bat at 8, with 18 balls to get 55 runs, what a joke!!! Yeah in my books this match was sold!!!

I believe Dhoni captaincy won the game than Chennai batsman or bowlers. He rotated the bowlers well and field placement was good too. Sending Hayden inside the circle for Pollard was a risk but that rewarded them a tournament. Hope Dhoni can do the same for his national team in T20 World Cup.

Mumbai played well in tournament but choked when it matters the most. They can take good from this tournament and can move ahead. They will be very happy for their this year performance comparing to their last year.
