Patch #2 Must Fixes

@Ross and @hbk, i've been thinking a lot about the upcoming patch(s) and i've come up with a couple of ideas.
Firstly: My fav player is Peter Trego, now i love playing in my career but i'd love to be able to have the option of playing as an existing player (through a career or at least a season. As with a season i could update teams through CA every year) and taking them through a career(or season). I know we wouldnt get stat increases etc but we could still go for international selection and have goals we want to achieve and so forth...maybe have a set of achievements for it. Its just an idea to explore and could probably be fairly easy to implement.
Not to say that career as it is isnt good, because it is, but theres just something about being able to play in that arena with your fav player that just speaks to me.

Secondly: I'd like to see a 'player lock' feature. What i mean by this is, say i start an ashes series on pro or higher, now, i havent got the mental fortitude to bat and bowl as every player. I would like to be able to 'lock' what player(s) i play with and would have control over during that game. The captancy side of things in regard to what actions to take on the field can also be an option to set if you're not 'locking in' playing as the captain but still want to control all captain related things on field.

Thirdly: This is gameply related and has been discussed a lot.
I know people are having trouble batting on pro and higher and want earlier indicators and i know you're working on your own ideas. An idea i had was to have a 'pace slider'. Essentially this allows the user to adjust how fast balls come at them. What i mean by this is, for instance, i think its fair to say its comfortable playing against straight up medium pacers, so imagine having a pace slider where you could slide how fast say a Mitchell Johnson bouncer comes at you to what an 80mph delivery looks like. That way you can adjust the speed of things to whats comfortable to you.
If you've played MLB THE SHOW, you'll know what i'm talking about. It gives you the option of sliding how quickly balls come at you. DB could work in the same way. Leave the slider on max and the ball speed is how it is now...slide it down and you can tailer your experience to your level.

Just some general things:
I know some of these have been discussed etc but im still not seeing enough edges by me or cpu.
Keepers need to stand the appropriate distance behind the stumps...balls shouldnt consistently be bouncing to them when a bowlers pace drops. In real life, as a keeper you make an adjustment and move closer. It would also help that the rare edges i do see dont keep bouncing before the keeper takes it.
We should be able to get a keeper to stand up to the stumps off medium pacers.
Fix stump physics if possible. It just doesnt look right bowling or getting bowled and the stumps barely move.
You're already looking at cpu AI and situational AI so thats good.
You're fixing fatigue so thats sorted.
CPU doesnt bowl on off and outside of off enough. I know you know already but they just dont. They dont work line and length consistently, they are very scattered and dont work to a long term plan. Its fine for some bowlers as thats how they are in real life but CPU needs to work off and outside of off in longer formats.
AI also needs adjusting to bowl situationally...for instance, more yorkers for yorker type bowlers in general but ESP in T20 at the death. I think bowlers just need to bowl like themselves in real life if that can be coded somehow.
Theres traits for batsman, so i wonder if the same can be applied for bowlers. For example 'yorker specialist', 'reverse swinger', etcetc, and what these traits could do is give the player a small bonus in certain situations (same for batsman)...it would just add a level of realism and individulality to game matchups and situations.
Dynamic batting orders in career is needed.
Bowling for users needs to be harder(but not by removing the guide...i mean smarter batting AI and opening up AI timing window on bad my deliveries). Plus more varied wickets in relation to where we're bowling (more edges and types of edges, bad contact hits, misstimed loopers etc). Its disappointing to see nearly all my wickets go the mid on/off no matter what. I guess this works hand in hand with you working on cpu AI and maybe them also adapting to what im doing.

I know i've written a lot but i hope its helpful. Keep up the good work:] and thanks for a great game.

So are you expecting the reply to be "OH YEAH TOTALLY" ??

oh man that would be crap. is it better then that we avoid the 'get best'?

Only difference that would make (if the players not changing is correct) is that the names you're seeing the same for 20 years will be names you've learned from playing, rather than real people's names.

I played a lot of MLB: The Show, which has players retiring and new players joining (this is why I know it's apparently tricky to get right). After a while the non-real players become guys you actually know - which is one of the better parts about it, because of the emergent narrative.

There was one made-up hitter I particularly remember, because I absolutely had his number (he couldn't resist swinging at inside 12-6 curves with 2 strikes), and another guy who absolutely had my number (after playing against him for 2 or 3 years, I started intentionally walking him).

Note that I don't think either of these made up guys had been coded in a particular way, it was just from me building up a story by playing against them.

From that perspective, I'd really love it if BAS could implement this for this iteration of the game - but I'll understand if they can't.

The players dropping easy catches is definitely an issue that needs to be looked...4-6 catches are being dropped [not talking about diving or hard catches]....:mad

You'd also need to rebalance the hitting in the air, though.

Mate how bout a more objective and thought out response? Less emotion, more content. Im just giving my opinion on a public forum. That's the point of forums...

And you 'understand' its a fantastic game for $100 in the year 2014? What, like someone has told you this and you just nod your head. How bout thinking about it and giving your own opinion?

I paid $85 on release day, and this game is 100% worth every cent, 10 timkes better than Shane warne cricket or any of those games that got boring after 10 mins because we were tonking every ball

I stuill play this game everyday and every spare minute, I fond the challenge fantastic

I just think your bitter because your $hite

True. I was just wondering whether team replacement was built in for default players but sort of overridden when you replace them with the 'Get Best' players. Damn, thats pretty crappy.

I must remind myself that this is the FIRST career mode of any cricket game, which is what Ross and Co also reminded us before the game came out. I guess its the old 'cake and eat it too' scenario.

I only wish we atleast had the ability to make changes to the team before each game to select specialists, or trade players or even move players around in the batting order eg. Ian Bell bats at No 4 for Warwickshire, not at No 1.

Edit:

BA, is this doable? ie. are you guys able to change it via a patch so that we can edit our team once we've started a career?

I do hope there will be some slight re-balancing of the front foot cut shot. It seems that the player backs away and misses sometimes for not much of a good reason. I've tried moving the front foot from straight down, to down and towards the off-side. That doesn't really seem to help much.

The late cut works fine, the cover drive fine. The cut can be played, but it's way too often awkward to pull off or doesn't come off at all when you feel you couldn't have played your attempt any better.

----------

Also, I find that as a whole catches lack much of a skill factor or any real sort of playability. The close in catches and moving the right stick in a direction is okay, but outfield catches I'd kind of like it if there was some sort've indicator of a prime time to attempt a catch and then you move the right stick. Right now you can just hold it in a direction and wait.

If there was some sort've red circle around the out-fielder and then it turned through colours, like orange, then yellow to green and back through those colours to red or something with your chances of a drop corresponding more due to how far off green you were, then there'd be a skill factor.

It wouldn't have to change fast or have too small a window of green, but it'd add some skill to something that takes skill in real life. Right now, outfield catches are easy although drops happen for what's perceived as no reason at all.

Maybe something to consider if a PS4/XBox One version comes out?

You'd also need to rebalance the hitting in the air, though.

That's related to timing as I now play ground shots very often and might hit in the air when slow balls are bowled so it's hard for me to play spin but I am improving....:)

Going in the air will not be a problem after patch as superhuman fielding is taken care in patch#2...:D

Hello everyone.

Just wanted you to know i found a weak spot against the AI while batting.

Just block after hitting a couple of 4s on the legside, the AI think they can attack. Then easy 4s on the legside or offside. Just do this over and over again and you will score scores over 350 all out almost all the time.

Another one of your posts I feel no reason whatsoever to take note of......
