1 Gbps Broadband

^ this

Its sort of like once you drive a German car, you never want to drive a Ford again.

I think I would rather not have internet then go back to 512k

My office connection. No idea why it says New Orleans, office is in Texas :laugh

The server you tested on is New Orleons.

Me either, its actually illegal here in the US. All broadband is unlimited as it should be.

It'll take some time but I think we'll get there. 1 Mbps unlimited has finally come well within reach, 2Mbps should get going soon and I guess from here on the internet speeds will progress much faster in India than the last decade.

Good to hear, because having limited bandwidth sounds awful.

Im hoping to get fiber optic in a year or so. Its already available here but very expensive. Would be nice to have a 50MB connection though :)

Actually you know that? Time Warner (biggest broadband provider in USA) is thinking about introducing 'limited bandwidth' based plans because here, bandwidth is just used too heavily and I guess they are finding it tough to maintain control over it. But lot of people are protesting that move and so, TW has put off those plans for the time being.

That is what I was talking about, as soon as Time Warner mentioned that, there were all sorts of legislation drafted up to prevent them from ever thinking of implementing it. Even Time Warner has said they have no plans on capping bandwidth anymore.

Wireless networks might get into the action though. AT&T is rumored to have plans of throttling bandwidth in the future. I think my T-Mo data plan is capped at 10GB/Month (which is more than enough for my cell phone.)

Can't be capped on my home network though. I'd go absolutely crazy. I have to be careful of the Youtube videos I watch, the amount of sites I surf... I would absolutely die if I was in the middle of a gripping cricket match via live stream and my internet would cut out because I exceeded my limit. :facepalm

Best thing about America is that we have the best technology available to us on the planet. And it's the cheapest too.

Cricketman added 2 Minutes and 18 Seconds later...

Meh. I think I'm on an Unlimited download, 512 Mb/s plan. My net connection is shared between 2 computers at the time of testing. Will that effect the result?

Also, even though this looks really slow, it's quick enough for me.

I would kill myself, seriously.

If I needed to attatch an assignment which we had to turn in online with that upload speed, I'd have to finish hours before hand just to get it in on time!

Yeah, I guess we are all too spoilt due to America because we have very good stuff available to us and when we go to other countries, we struggle.

You mean Reliance NetConnect which offers 3.1 Mbps unlimited? My dad uses it. Quite fast, but the cost is a bit too high.
Even wired broadband will do I wanna know about their Customer Service and connection quality etc

I am having a 2 Mbps connection with a cap of 1.5 GB with a monthly bill of Rs 350 and there is no internet usage is free if you use from 2.00 AM to 8.00 AM.I live in Visakhapatnam.

Which provider ?

BSNL Actually the bill is Rs 500 but because my dad is a government employee so we pay only Rs 350.The plan is 500C.

1.5Gbps is too low. Maybe 5GB should be there for that kind of a price.

I just got bumped up to 1 mbps by my ISP. 1 mbps unlimited is as good as it gets while being affordable. :( Finally, I have a connection good enough to watch videos at low resolutions. :laugh
