Review A Little Disappointing to Say the Least

After playing a few matches of each format I can definately see that the game is lacking realism. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, i discovered a major flaw. The AI batting is way too aggressive and hits out virtually every ball. How is that Realistic?

The Batting was, i must admit, a bit of a let down. I found that a few times i had perfectly timed an along the ground cover drive only to find it caught at cover. The Front foot/Back foot selections are a good improvement on the last game but i find that sometimes when i wanted to play, say a front foot off drive just outside off stump the ai would take over and play a back foot cut shot and i would find my off stump lying on the ground. the full 360 degree is good for finding those little gaps when there is a packed off side field.

To Sum up the batting overall, i would say that it was good but could be improved further i'd probably give it a 6/10

The bowling was a big disappointment especially when AI is batting. anywhere i would put the ball i would find it sailing over the fence or bouncing over the boundary. I dislike the fact that you have to pitch the ball up further to get the perfect ball so to speak and even with spinners the pitching marker wont turn yellow until you have pitched the ball yorker length on leg stump. When AI is Bowling i find way too many sundries being bowled even from a spinner, on the rare occasion that they bowl no balls in real life, it seems as if they bowl 1 every 2-3 overs which is quite annoying and really unrealistic. The Bowlers dont even have there own actions like since when do the likes of Lasith MAlinga and Mitchell Johnson bowl like Flintoff and Harmison

Summing up the bowling overall, i would have to say it is much to be desired.

The Fielding is a little bit disgraceful. Since when would the likes of Ponting or Clarke fumble a ball that bounces once before getting to them. Sure it was good so see the fielders fumbling every now and then but not 70% of the time. On a positive note i do like the new catching system, timing when to catch the ball. I thought it was a vast improvement on the previous BLIC07/RPIC07 game. Although the negative side of the catching, is when AI takes a catch that they probably couldnt get near enough to get a touch on the ball. I didnt have a problem with the throwing to either end, but i would have liked to see the fielders diving abit more to save boundaries.

The fielding overall could have been better.

The player names still annoy me and after RPIC05 and 07 it kinda got really annoying when having to change nearly every players name to their rightful one. And on the Xbox 360 Version, it got really annoying when i went to change the names but the first name would only allow 6 letters so the guys with first names with longer than 6 letters miss out. And besides who wants to sit there and change the players names back to normal it should have already been done for us.

The tutorials and legend challenges were good but often got annoying especially when you dont get the play right. The commentary is disasterous as who wants to hear the same thing every game with different commentators. personally i think the commentary needs to be extended as i hate hearing the same thing over and over again.

Earning Skill points is ok, but i found that for milestones like 50's 100's 200's 5 fers and hatricks you dont get skill points. but i would have thought you would have because you are achieiving something.

Overall the game is average and needs to be improved for me to feel any realism whilst playing.
i would have to give the game a 6/10 overall

A fair enough review, but i do disagree on what you say about the batting i have no problems with this. My main issue with the game is bowling, but only because they go out to easy and make a very small score and in patches slog at every ball, but i do believe bad bowling is to blame for this as i am able to control there run rate. And of course run outs, a major issue in to why i hate bowing. Please can we have a patch

ive been playing on the xbox 360 so i cant really get a patch unless something comes on xbox live

Agreed, I don't have the AI hitting out all the time - you must be doing something wrong. Have you played the tutorials yet, OP? It's important to do so in this game. As for run-outs, I've settled into a rhythm of saving every over, so runouts no longer bother me - if I see a suicido-runout, I just reload.

Incidentally, a quicksave button in the patch would go down well.

I havent done this save after every wicket and over yet but its got to the point where i really have to for a good game to occur.

So i thought i would begin a new ashes test and do this technique as my last two test matches i one by and innings.

It's a real pain, especially when you forget for a few overs, but it's the only way round the AI running for me right now - haven't got round to playing with fielder's skills yet.

yes i have. I want to play a realistic game where the oposing team posts a decent score. another problem i found was when i tightened up the bowling to reduce them to about 3.5rpo i bowled them out way to quickly for 39 whats the fun in that.

That's odd - I'm having consistently fun (if not totally realistic - rpo 6+) games.

Same here. I just try to think like a cricketer instead of wanting to play every ball or get a wicket every time....I am also not very good so I can't get batsmen out all the time but can restrict quite well although I am not using spinners as that needs much more practice for me. Being able to use the manual shot buttons has made things so much more enjoyable,:):)

The ai is getting 6rpo against me which is accceptable, but my main issue is the score they end up scoring against me, its is very small score to say the least, but my ashes test is in early stages, different pitches could suit the ai batting better maybe and hopefully if im honest to make this game more enjoyable for me personally.

My first test at cardiff ended in me winning by an innings and 100 odd runs.
