It was a big day. Sam really wanted a result. He knew it would be a hard game but he thought if the players were up for it, they could do it.

gametemplatecityawayas3.png

The game started at a good tempo, and it wasn't long at all before the first goal. Given kicked the ball out only to be picked up in midfield by a City player. A good passing move by City lead to a shot by Dicov, only to be parried away by Given, but straight to Hamann, and he coolly taped it away. This wasn't good news for Sam, it meant the players confidence had gone down right from the off. They would have to fight hard top win it now, with the City fans behind their team. There was hope though, when Dunne's rash challenge meant he was off, as he was last man. The free-kick ended in nothing, but this could be a key moment in the game, it was 10 against 11. The game settled down for a bit, but there was a free-kick on the right, and it was whipped in, Vassell the only man insight, nodded it in, and City were two-nil up. Allardyce was less than impressed with what he was seeing and wanted he team to show a bit more fight than this. When it was half-time, he was waiting in the changing room, and gave the players a right rollicking. He asks them "Where is the passion? Do you understand who you are playing for, show some fight, some spirit, I expect nothing less in the 2nd half". The talking to did not work though, as only two minutes in Duff was sent off for his second yellow. The teams were equal in players now, the last thing Big Sam wanted, he stared at Damien as he walked past, Duff did not dare hazard a look and walked past Sam and set in the seats above the dugout. The 2nd half wore on, without much excitement. It ended, and the point at which the whistle went, Sam finally saw how much work he had to do with this squad. The transfer market was over, he had to install some fight in these players, otherwise this season would not be a good one.

Sam hoped the next game, against the big rivals, Sunderland, was more competitive, he thought to himself, this is just the game we need when we looked so uninspired today.

Again, this is your chance to ask the post-match questions, and gain a better insight into the thinking of Big Sam.

Please comment as well, as it gives me a lot of encouragement to update, and I am sorry about the lack of an update for a long time ;)

Sam walked into the interview room, only Ryan Pinch had showed up. Big Sam was down, he went over to talk to Ryan, and Ryan asked him:

Did you really think that you were going to defeat such class opposition in Man City?

"Well, I thought that City played very well today, they looked compact and just kept it solid, while always looking like they would put away there chances when they had the opportunities. I always think we can win whatever opposition we come up against, it just wasn't are day today. I will just have to work on why we lost today and hopefully take that knowledge into the next game"

Sam told him that was it, Pinch explained that he was very pleased City won, he sounded as if he was absolutely loving it. Sam couldn't be bothered to argue with him, so he just ignored the man, that was all he deserved, to be ignored. Sam left with his head down, but he knew that there would be brighter times, and he just hoped that they would come sooner rather than later.

Bad loss to Man City! Should have won to be fair. Big Sam needs to try and get back on track after 2 straight defeats!

Great presentation Rabz. Just remember to add Newcastle's scorer on next time ;)

It was the game today. As the Geordie's like to call it. The atmosphere was building up, already the insults flying across the stadium directed at each other. The pressure was on, it had to be a win today for Sam, he needed the fans behind him.

The game started, and Newcastle were on the attack from the off, with Emre and Parker trying their best to feed the ball into the path of both Owen and Martins, There were a few attacks and Sam was pleased with them, Sunderland hadn't looked like scoring in this first half an hour, and he hoped that would stay the same. However, only with thinking that did Sunderland get a free kick in a very dangerous position. Weisinger took it, and the ball curled past Given, and Sunderland were 1-0 up. It stayed like this until half-time, but Sam was okay, becasue he was confident that if Newcastle played the same next half, they could win the game. So he just gave the lads some encouragement in the dressing room, and sent them back out after a drink. There were some more shots when they came back out, but only from long-range, with a good drive from Emre, but nothing looked like getting past Kelvin Davies today, he looked in great form. The half petered out, the fans got quieter, well the Magpie ones anyway, the Sunderland fans were up and didn't stop shouting and singing. There were 3 minutes of added time, Martins had a half chance, but another good stop by Davies. The game finished, some of the fans had already left, but the ones that were still there gave a quite boo, showing that they were less than impressed with the performance. Sam wasn't overly down though, he was pleased with the defensive performance, just not with the attacking one, he knew that Newcastle needed to look more of a threat, and perhaps with the two small strikers, it was never going to work. He walked back to the changing room, and told the lads to keep their heads up, and that they needed to work on a few things before the next game. That was that, another loss, but he again hoped for brighter days.

Sam - How are you going to turn this horrible form around?

Sam - Are you worried that your strikers are not performing and scoring goals?

Sam - I know it's early, but do you have a feeling you are not going to end up in the position you wish to?

There ya go Sam. Bad loss again, really need to get out of this slump!
