Any Improvements?

It's in the rules to ask for permission first. I don't want to get banned for something I could've done easily beforehand.

My bro' wants to come on the forums. I'm not letting him use my account so just as a precautionary permission question that under my IP address their would be a 2nd account. Is this OK, otherwise I'll just tell him to bugger off.
As long as you don't use his account and vice versa it is fine. We do watch accounts that are brothers, and if we suspect that it is the same person one or both of the accounts could be banned. To put it simply, if you sound like different people and both post well, you'll be fine.

It is indeed a tricky thing though, just about everyone who gets banned uses brothers as an excuse for a multiple account, and there is no way of knowing 100%.

I have one question whenever i edit any post now below post it is not written last edited by adityacricketer any time example 9.00 like this now it doesn't come can i ask why.
There's an edit window where that won't appear, I think it is 2 minutes after posting.

We have got a problem with the use of punctuation at the moment. We have some people who think that punctuation doesnt exist, we still have the '....' in use and apparently we now have '!!' being used at the end of every sentence.

The other thing I have, I feel their needs to be strict moderation on the Ashes Cricket 2009 forum (the game one) as we have a big influx of members coming and I can't bare to read through the threads as there are many people asking the same question, some of the posting isn't great either and there is a fair amount of spam.

Added a common questions thread to try to catch some of those, couldn't agree more about the mess that forum is right now, but that's kinda to be expected in this initial period of panic, I'm sure it will settle down a touch soon.

This could be a very good period of time for PC, but it could also turn out to be a very bad one also. If all the moderators can work over time this could turn into a very good time with the amount of cricket games we have coming out now.

Also the staff have done incredibly well with the stories/league forum where the stories forum is now incredibly rejuvinated and the Leagues issue was sorted by giving them a seperate sub forum. Great work guys :) :clap

As usual you can use the post report to help us out if we don't spot something or with the AC09 forum, a heap of threads being made making it harder to spot the bad threads pushed onto page 2.

I think with the punctuation issue, and as a whole the ability to post in some form of legible English is kinda to be expected.

We've got kids from India, Pakistan and all around that region who I assume get taught the basics of our language, but not much more unless they try hard.

The thing for us more experienced members is to help educate these kids, you can go back and look at (and I hope he doesn't mind me using his name) the kinda guys like Kshitiz, who when he started here didn't have as good of English as he does now. Its that kinda thing which can make the forum something special, IF we treat these kids right.

I'll admit that it pisses me off greatly when I read posts that make no sense, but to jump on it, in public, is wrong.

Indeed. Maybe a little section with the rules for those who aren't that good in English. Tell them to use punctuation, proper paragraphs, and to try and be clear, and that if they are ever in doubt about how to phrase a question or what they want to say to feel free to ask. Maybe encourage them not to take any criticism personally and to read over their posts once or twice to make sure it's clear. Simple stuff like that.

I think any new thread opening in Ashes forum should be mod approved till things settle down.

Is their a limit of how many emoticons can be entered in a post?
Unfortunately the only way to do that results in a limit on all images, which isn't workable on this site. Might just have to remove the quick smiley boxes, so that people don't just mash on them once they have finished writing a few words.

Re English use, there isn't all that much we can do as a rule to get people to post better. It certainly isn't possible to remove any post that isn't written with correct grammar/spelling, but the extremes of it certainly. Those sort of users have to want to improve for anything to be effective, if they are just being plain lazy then there's nothing much we can do.

If i made a small contribution towards the site ??, how much would be a reasonable amount, and would it speed things up a bit?

I've had no end of problems on here in the past few days, and now i have bought ashes cricket i've found myself spending more time here at the moment.

I can't answer how much is reasonable nor can I guarantee it will speed things up. If we got another HD and had an upload port upgrade that would be an extra US$35 per month (about $400 for a year).
We're working on some issues to avoid spikes in server load.

Well i think I've just won another competition, i win these from time to time for my work in other places.

Depending on how much i get myself (i don't have a proper job currently so money is tight) i would of thought i should be able to afford something. $35 does not sound like much when you say how much it costs for the year but i could probably afford that.
