haha, even us members are scared whether or not a thread will be closed. classic.

Anywhoooo, all we need is a fanboy from either England or Australia to say something stupid. So I'll get the ball rolling!!!

England suck.....!!! (thats all i got)

Australia will be getting back what they rightly deserve.

I think the teams had underwent lots of changes since last time. England has now struggled a bit in tests. In comparison, the Aussies were superb.

Interesting to see how Panesar and Cook from England and Clark of Australia performs in their debut Ashes.

Lets hope the Australian selectors actully use there brain this time around and select the right players for the pitch which they are playing on.

Both sides look weaker to me than the last time around. I think Australia, with home-court advantage, will pull through in the end.

England has been constantly plagued with injury worries--they'll either have a bunch of inexperienced players or a bunch of players without too much match practice, the way it looks.

Rightly deserve? We battered Australia in 3 of the 5 test matches. They battered us in 1. And the final test at the Oval was pretty much evens. How they deserve it, I really dont know.

It'll be an interesting series, if we get everyone back available and fit with the exception of Jones we should give it a good shot at retaining that little urn.

So who should be Jones replacement? Going on the basis that he is the only injury we have.

I'd opt for Jimmy Anderson, barring he has some cricket under him before the tour starts.

If Giles is fit, Will Monty play?

I think that if Monty plays, Plunkett should play so we have a number 8 batsman. I also agree that Jimmy Anderson should definatley replace Jones. IMO the biggest debate is whether Gilo or Monty should play. I also think Collingwood should play as well, he's reliable and a tough cookie.

Definately Jimmy A. Plunkett hasn't got it for me. Especially not for an Ashes challenge. Giles or Monty is an interesting one. With Jimmy A in the side, I would have to say the selectors would go for Giles, but personally I would go with Monty, much better bowler than Giles.

Monty may get much stick from the crowd (he fields fine leg, near the crowd) to the point where they may not have to pick him.

I like him but it may have to be the case

Manee

As a professional he shouldn't let crowds bother him. As shown by Dominic Thornley recently, this isn't always the case. He was a bit of an arse for doing what he did.

If crowds say things, then you have to let them go. Even if they are personal things, like a dig at your family or partner, they don't know them so let it go.

Professional footballers probably get some of the worst abuse around, especially when playing at away grounds and most of them play through it. The best way to respond is to play to the top of your game and get goals in football or in Monty's case, take wickets. Hopefully if he gets any in the winter, he will use it as a motivation pill.
