MN: Well what an exciting day of cricket we have had today . After an early upset Australia dominated the match and posted a huge total of 376. Now i'll have a quick chat with Northern districts captain Greg Renton. Now Greg it was a brilliant start, what went wrong.
GR: It was an excellent start. getting the two big hitters out early was going to be a tough ask but we pulled it off and then the Aussies reformed and got stuck into
MN: Was it Hard bowling to such a brilliant team
GR: It was very tough once they got settled
MN: And your teams batting that was disappointing would you agree
GR: Yes we were very dismal. we believed we could take it to the Aussies it was just a matter of scoring quickly and keeping wickets in hand. Neither of which we did well.
Thank you Greg. Now We'll have a chat to the Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Ricky it was a good win.
RP: it was very disappointing early on when we Lost Gilly and Haydos in the 1st over. But we pulled it together put our heads down and got stuck into it.
MN: You said earlier on it looked to be a good pitch. was it?
RP: Well yes actually it was. runs were flowing well throughout the innings
MN: What about Brendan Gutteridge's century in his first one day game
RP: it was something wasn't it. Brendan brings new life into this Australian team. he's a quality class player and will hopefully continue to score runs.
MN: Thanks Ricky and now for man of the match. I'm Proud to present the Man of the match award to Shaun Tait for his tight bowling figures.
ST: Wow Thank you it was quite unexpected
MN: Thank you every one. next up NZ take on The Aussies in the first ODI. Bye for now
