Adam Gilchrist stars as batsmen crumble around him
Masterclass.jpg

Adam Gilchrist timed the ball to perfection from ball one.

Australian wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist has made a marvellous 62 as Australia has made 9/139. Gilchrist, who struggled in Bangladesh; pummelled the Pakistani's to all parts of the ground in his brilliant innings.

But Rana Naved has reduced Australia due to some brilliant bowling. He engineered a middle order collapse where Australia lost 5/36.

Check out how things unfolded.
-----------------

Kaneria flighted a ball up in his next over, and Clarke played a brilliant slog sweep which went for four through mid wicket.

The 100 was brought up and after 12 overs, Australia were 4/100.

On the first ball of the next over, Adam Gilchrist brang up his 50. It came from 30 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Michael Clarke had a brain explosion and was bowled by Ul-hasan for 7. He danced down the pitch and had a big wild swing. He completely missed it and was clean bowled. Australia are now 5/105 after 13 overs.

Michael Clarke is bowled by Rana Naved for 7.

Mike Hussey tried to clear the boundary in Kaneria’s next over but only resulted in hitting it straight to Mohammed Yousuf at long off. He goes for 6. And Australia are in slight trouble at 6/118.

Danish Kaneria celebrates with Younis Khan after claiming Hussey.

Abdul Razzaq came on next over, and Brett Lee hammered him straight away. That was the first four in many overs.

Next ball, Lee played the same shot, but hit it straight to the fielder on the boundary at cover instead of besides him. He goes for 6 and Australia are 7/125.

Razzaq gets abit over-excited after getting Brett Lee out.

Gilchrist fell trying to up the tempo in the next over to Shahid Afridi. He middled a big shot but could not get it past the man at long on. He goes for a marvellous 62 and Australia fall to 8/129.

Afridi is ecstatic after picking up the massive wicket of Gilchrist

Nathan Bracken fell on the final ball of the innings going for a six. He was easily caught on the mid-wicket boundary for 5.

Australia then end their innings at 9/139. Quite a disappointing total.

SW: I’m down here with Adam Gilchrist. Adam, marvellous innings, you played brilliantly.

AG: Yeah, it felt awesome. I was timing the ball perfectly from ball one. I struggled in Bangladesh, so I’m happy with my performance.

SW: What score would you have wanted to get?

AG: I think we were looking at a total of about 180 after 9 overs. But that didn’t eventuate. They really tied things up during those middle overs, which resulted in us getting frustrated and hitting out.

SW: This is a gettable total for Pakistan. What is the key to your bowling?

AG: I think that we have to keep a good line. They have Shahid Afridi at the top. And we all know what he can do. If we can keep the runs down, I think we can win.

SW: Thanks for your time , Adam. Good luck and well done on your innings.

AG: Cheers.

SW: Well there you have it, Australia have made 9/139 after their 20 overs. Come back after the break as we follow Pakistan’s chase.

They recovered well, lots of little scores! O well, at least they have made a decent score.

Gilchrist was the stand-out innings. Great bowling from Rana Naved. And also great presentation from you Sean. Great works. Keep up the good work.

Bracken executes Collapse as Pakistan struggle.

Aussie seamer Nathan Bracken has taken 4/30 as Pakistan have collapsed to be in trouble at 6/72 after the 10 over stage. Bracken bowled brilliantly to really trouble the batsmen as they lost 5/13 to go from 0/35 to 5/48.
Mohammed Yousuf and Kamran Akmal then put on a partnership of 24 before Akman fell to a wrong-un from Hogg.

Pakistan got off to a brilliant start as they were going along at around 12 an over for the first 3 overs before Bracken put them on the ropes.

Here are the highlights.

Taufeeq Umar got off to the best start possible, by smashing a full delivery from Bracken down the ground for four off the 2nd ball of the innings. Bracken overpitched and Umar just leant onto it and smashed it over the top and all the way for four.

First ball of Lee’s first over, and he bowled a ripping delivery. Afridi went for a big swing down the ground but mistimed it. It went high in the ait and was just out of reach of the diving White. It ran away for four.

Next ball, Lee overpitched slightly, and Afridi, as strong as always smashed the ball straight into the sight screen and dented it. 6 runs!

Shahid Afridi was on fire today, making 29 from only 10 balls including 3 sixes and 2 fours.

First ball of Bracken’s 2nd over. Bracken tried to pitch the ball outside off stump to tempt Afridi to hit it in the air over cover. He fell for it, but it didn’t go to plan as it went sailing over the fence about 20 rows back.

Next ball, Bracken bowled a ripping delivery which just missed leg stump. For some reason, the umpire signalled a wide although it was inside the batsmen. (?)

A ball later, Bracken tried to bowl a Yorker, but didn’t pitch it full enough. Afridi went for a big swing and connected as it went down the ground for another four.

Next ball, Bracken tried a slower ball but once again, he overpitched as Afridi slogged it down the ground for another six. It smashed the window, and landed in the commentary box.

2 balls later, Bracken tried to cramp Afridi by bowling a Yorker on leg stump. He went for a leg glance. He got onto it, and it was flat, fast, but straight to Hussey who took a brilliant catch at square leg. He goes for 29, and Pakistan are 1/35 from 2.5 overs.

Mike Hussey takes a brilliant catch to get rid of the dangerous Shahid Afridi.

2 balls later, Bracken bowled a full delivery on leg stump which Inzaman Ul-Haq tried to leg glance. He got a leading edge, and Hussey ran around to take the catch at cover. He goes for a 2nd ball duck, and Pakistan are 2/36 after 3 overs.

Inzi is dissapointed after falling 2nd ball.

3 balls into Lee’s 3rd over, he bowled a good length ball outside off stump which was swinging in. Somehow, Umar got behind it, and played a flick, hook shot to get it over fine leg and out of the ground for 6.

First ball of the next over, Hogg took the catch of the summer to dismiss Umar for 12. Bracken bowled a short ball outside off stump which Umar stepped back to and smashed over cover. Hogg, running in from the boundary, lept forward to take a great two handed catch.

First ball of Khan’s innings and Bracken over pitched a Yorker which turned into a full toss. It resulted in being smashed down the ground for four.

Younis Khan fell into Bracken’s “outside off stump” trap as he was caught by Hogg at deep cover. Bracken bowled a delivery outside off stump, and Khan went for a big drive. He didn’t have enough power on the shot and was caught easily by Hogg at deep cover. He goes for four as Pakistan are now 4/47.

Nathan Bracken collects Younis Khan's scalp as Pakistan collapse dramatically

Lee bowled a brilliant Yorker first ball next over which cleaned up Razzak. Swinging in, it beat Razzaq for pace as he went for 1. The score is now 5/48.

A couple of overs later, Shaun Tait overpitched a delivery and Yousuf smashed him down the ground for 6.

A few balls later, Tait dragged the ball short and wide as Mohammad Yousuf punished him by cutting him past point for four.

Next ball, Tait bowled a short ball as Yousuf went for the pull shot. Hussey dived to his left and brilliantly stopped the ball at square leg. It was a certain four, but no runs had been scored.

65853.jpg

Mohammad Yousuf has played brilliantly and doesn't look like getting out.

Hogg got Kamran Akmal out next over from a wrong un. He played all around it and was bowled middle stump between bat and pad.
He goes for 3 as Pakistan fall to 6/72.

After 10 overs, Pakistan were 6/73 and need a run rate of 6.70 to win.

Current batsmen:

Yousuf 21*
Sami 1*

Bowlers:

Bracken 4/30 (3)
Lee 1/31 (3)
Tait 0/11 (2)
Hogg 1/1 (2)

Hmm Australia are on top here but anything could happen.
Great stuff mate:)

i think aussies have got this, unless sami starts hitting and yousuf stays out there

Brilliant bowling by Bracken. Pakistan in deep trouble now with 6/73. Australia are winning this match. Nice presentation mate.:)

Bracken letting losse and killing Pakistan who are in trouble. Nice Pres Mate.... KUTGW

Both the team's bowlers have done a good job. With players like Yousuf, Tendulkar, Lara and Hussey at the crease, we never know whats going to happen till the end. Lets see whether Yousuf plays a magical knock here.

Keep up the terrific presentation mate :hpraise

the pakistanis are on course for victory, but the wickets left may trouble them.

nice work especially as the game is on PS2, keep it up
