Broadcasting Rights


The BBC have won the bidding to show England's Live Home ODI Internationals until 2010 along with the 2009 Ashes. It has also been rumoured that BBC Sport have also won the bidding to show nightly highlights and analysis in the evenings on BBC Two/Three. It has been confirmed that Sir Ian Botham has left Sky Sports and is poised to take a job in the BBC's commentry team which already includes Geoffery Boycott, Richie Benaud and Mark Nicholas. The BBC will broadcast their first England matches in England's Charity Shield Encouters against The Stars XI.

BBC Commentry Team

David Gower: BBC Cricket's Main Presenter.

Michael Atherton: Key member of the commentry setup. Commentates matches along with David Lloyd, and on occasions is joined by Richie Benaud.

David Lloyd: Commentator, who broadcasts live along with Michael Atherton.

Sir Ian Botham: The analysist, who hosts "Innings Round Up" where viewers can watch replays of vital moments in the innings, and use technology (snickometer, hawkeye and pitch-maps) to find out whether the umpires make the right desicions.

Geoffrey Boycott: Does the pitch report on regular occasions.

Richie Benaud and Mark Nicholas: They often commentate and help out "Beefy" in Innings Round Up. They are two unique members of the commentry team.

McGrath is a gamble but let's see. Key is a good player who can play as good as the best when in form. Swann in the team should be interesting, I don't really expect much from him but...Good choice with Ambrose, probably the current best English keeper. Of course Mark Pettini is someone to keep a close watch on. Good luck mate!
