ABOUT
The Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket was a One Day International tournament held from 17 February to 10 March 1985 in Australia and won by India.

The tournament was part of the celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of European settlement in Victoria. All of the thenTest match playing teams participated with matches played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney Cricket Ground. The tournament saw the first matches played under lights at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

India were the reigning World Cup holders, having defeated the West Indies in the 1983 World Cup final, but the bookmakers installed West Indies as favourites.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Each team was required to name a 14-player squad for the tournament. Matches were played with coloured clothing, white balls, fielding restrictions and innings limited to 50 overs. The seven teams were split into two qualifying groups. Each played a round-robin with two points awarded for a win and one point for a draw or tie. Teams on equal points were separated by run rate.

Cross-over semi finals were then played with the winner from each group playing the runner-up from the other group. The losers played in the Plate Winners Final while the winners contested the Final.

West Indies, 'cause I don't think I've ever got the chance to manage that great side in all my time here. I'm usually on the other end in a league with them in it. :p

Good luck! I hope to see some Richie Richardson show. :)

Same here. I think this was around the same time he made such an impressive entry into international cricket.

I reckon the Windies should be alright, as long as they don't take Mudassar Nazar's military-mediums lightly like they did in the real thing.

You'll need a squad I think..

This being a virtual league I reckon you can field a different squad from that in real life so how about getting the Gordon Greenidges, Sylvester Clarke (he played First Class cricket till 1990), Wayne Daniel (First-class span 1975-1988, List A span 1975-1987) and Franklyn Stephenson for Thelston Payne, Winston Davis and Gus Logie in your 14 men squad?

As far as coach is concerned you can put the name of the great Sir Garfield Sobers for the sake of it.

I assumed that wasn't @Yonga's plan seeing as he already entered the same as real life Aussie squad beforehand. But I'd certainly love to pick Greenidge, Clarke, Stephenson and co if given the green light.

Sorry for all of you We would only use Real squads[DOUBLEPOST=1419775114][/DOUBLEPOST]Hey! @Samuels It would be a pleasure if you want to manage a team here..
