Matthew Hayden right now

he can now play a variety of shots instead of smashing down the ground, through the covers

as we saw in the 2nd australia innings of the 2nd test match against india he was playing sweep shots and reverse sweeps against harbhajan and kumble.

Jaques started doing sweeps aswell but he got out doing a sweep, you can see how high Hayden's standards are

Hayden's the best batsman because his the only batsman in the current era who averages over 50 that opens the batting over a big period of time & always has the disadvantage of facing the new ball.

Dravid and Jaffer ain't that bad

Dravid is out of form

and for Jaffer he scored 93 against ACT (Australian Capital Territory)

i think the person that is troubling him is Brett Lee

well then going by your logic shewag is the second best
No, Hayden's almost played twice as many games and has 29 test centuries after only 93 tests. Not even Tendulkar had that many centuries after 93 test matches and he has easier conditions to bat on then Hayden does.

'Easier' is in the eye of the beholder. Some batsmen prefer fast pitches to slow ones. For example, Hayden averages over 60 in Australia but 'just' 55 away from Australia.

well tendulkar faced greater quality bowling than hayden, and hayde n was not good enough to play in the 1990-2000 even though he was 25, not a youngster, you see against fast bowlers you cannot just play on the front foot as was the case in the 1990's.Who says pitches in india are easy for batting, its mnore difficult in india if there are quality fast bowlers as the ball
does swing, reverse and in most places except, mohali, mumbai, chennai, bangalore keeps low so scoring is difficult, not forgetting spin

Yeah, he batted in the middle-order against those quality bowlers who were already tired and the new ball had worn off.

Pitches are easier in India because the bounce is extremely slow & difficult for the quality pace bowling that Tendulkar faced so it was easier for him no matter who he played. Hence why they're so many draws & huge totals when matches are played in India.

hahhaahahhaha, tendulkar was like a opening batsman as india always lost 3 wickets in the first 5 overs in the 1990,s

Still a hell of allot easier to bat at number 4 then it is to open.

You'd need to average a substancial ammount more then Hayden to be better then him at a decent strike-rate, the only batsman who you can really consider is Ricky Ponting.

well its harder considering the pressure and ecpectation knowing you are the one on who m the whole team depends, and hayden is facing medicore
medium pacers on flat tracks, and that is why he was dropped in the 1990s as the wickets were a lot faster and there were veryu good bowling attacks the world over now, only england had a good bowling attack and he struggled in the 2005 ashes
