Best spinner is obviously Shane Warne, certainly the greatest spinner of all time.

Fast Medium would be McGrath in that era, Pollock also has a good claim.

For the record, Brad Hogg is a fringe player in the WA first class side, he is a one day specialist only.

Spinner; Murali. Find me any spinner who's still playing that's better than him and i'll kiss you.

Fast Medium; Stuart Clark. He's bowling like McGrath in his pomp. I would have picked Asif but he's a dirty drug cheat and they don't deserve any mention whatsoever as they are disgraces to sport.

Medium; Tom Smith. Because he plays for Lancs.

Chinaman; Brad Hogg, because there's hardly any out there and no one can pick his wrong 'un.

Fair enough, but why mention it in this thread? What purpose does that statement have in this thread? Answer that.

I didn't make the statement.

Matt just believes that someone who took illegal drugs doesn't deserve to be hailed as one of the World's best bowlers.

They're using it to qualify their reason for not selecting various players, even though they may be near the best in their field. In many peoples eyes the fact he resorted to chemical help (regardless of the reason - ignorance is not a valid defence) cheapens what he has or may achieve in the game.

I think it also shows the ever growing repulsion at the use of drugs in sport and the fact that it's less tolerated (at least) by the general public than in previous times.

However, as my esteemed colleague has mentioned this really isn't the place for a debate on drugs in sport.

Ok, thread is broke.

In the off chance that the tangent is removed and thread is un-broked, I'd like to say Darren Sammy was comprehensively medium pace (about 75 mph according to the broadcast) when he ran through England in June. 7/66 is numerically the best innings bowling so far this year.

Actually no, Andrew Symonds

Steve Waugh used to be actually an all rounder in the first 5-10 years of his career. He used to bowl at the death and won many matches off his bowling.

Nevertheless, 7 wickets is 7 wickets.

I'm giving my reasons for not picking him which I think are fair enough. If you have a problem, go sue.
