Shakib at 8, Buttler at 4 and above AB, really mate ? in a ODI game.
Really mate. De Villiers averaged
78 at number five, scoring at 109 runs per 100 balls. It is the best anyone has ever been at any position in ODI cricket, and it's not even close: his performances were roughly 3.5 times what one would expect of a replacement player in that role.
Buttler averages 73 at a strike rate of
167 batting at number four. It's a small sample size, and would undoubtedly regress to the mean as he usually only bats at four in favourable situations, there is no reason why he shouldn't be given the opportunity to bat there more often. Plus, if one gets 40 overs of Buttler batting, one wins the game.
Shakib at number eight is
very low I agree, but it was much more a case of just trying to find a place for him in the batting order. Another option would be to bat him at six and possibly Hasaranga at eight; most of his ODI career has been in the 2020s, but he did appear enough in the 2010s to show his potential.
