they were the only option. I know what you mean, he could have held out for a transfer to Chelsea but from what we're hearing the only club Madrid would sell to was City so he just had to get out. Not that I actually know anything about it nor do you :p
 
Aye, I don't see why people keep portraying that he picked City or Chelsea for money. Chelsea never had a bid accepted. It was move to City or stay at Madrid where he was so unhappy he threatened to retire, makes sense in the end.
 
Chelsea were pretty confident of getting a deal done though, and I think if City hadn't have shown there interest, the deal would have happened.
 
Madrid probably would have sold to Chelsea in the end, but utterly begrudgingly due to Champions League rivalries, it was just good fortune City came along.
 
and according to them chelsea weren't able to match their asking price...
