Well Done!! An almost perfect month with a few draws, but more importantly no loses!!! You'll be in the promotion spots in no time challenging thoughs mighty Baggies. :p
My Prediction:
1. West Bromwich Albion
2. Coventry City

Quite close :p

FOX GETS PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Coventry's 21 year old left back, Daniel Fox, has scooped the player of the month after a series of very impressive performances from the former Walsall player. Manager, Craig Tough got third place in the manager of the month, behind West Brom's Tony Mowbray in second and Crystal Palace's Neil Warnock in first.

OCTOBER 2007 OVERVIEW: COVENTRY CITY

So, three months had gone by pretty swiftly, and we were going along nicey. My first unbeaten month at the club, and it had been a very good month indeed. 3 wins and 2 draws saw us climb to a superb 4th in the league, playing 13 winning 6 drawing 4 and losing 3. A very good start here at Coventry. And also I was very pleased to see one of our youngsters get player of the month, Daniel Fox picking up the accolade after some great games.

Coventry 4 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday
A great start to the month, a fantastic 4-1 win over strugglers, Sheffield Wednesday, a bad start thoug, we conceded a goal in just under 2 minutes, big Enoch Showunmi got the goal, but just 2 minutes later, winger Ellery Cairo equalised in some style, hitting a 25 yard thunderbolt to draw level, it was heading for a draw when Robbie Simpson scored with just 9 minutes left, but in those 9 minutes, we wrapped the game up with goals from Elliott Ward and Thiago.

Plymouth 0-2 Coventry

A fantastic win at Plymouth, a very hard place to go and we never looked under threat from any of the Plymouth players, Leon Best came up with 2 brilliant finishes in the first half, and that was all it too. A great 3 points.

QPR 1-1 Coventry
Another pretty good result. We faced the 'Chelsea of the Championship'. large money had been spent on QPR this season, but they couldn't beat us. Martin Rowlands gave QPR the lead on 58 mins, but 10 minutes later, Best got another goal to level things up, and thats how it stayed.

Coventry 1-1 Southampton
Another hard fought point, against one of the strongest attacking sides in the league, who had actually lost the least games in the Championship losing just 1, but had 9 draws on their cards, so they are only 11th in the league. We conceded an absolute shocker in the 19th, Andy Marshall had the ball taken off him right in front of his own goal, Wright Phillips took it off him and scored, but just before half time, Michael Mifsud came up with an absolute cracker to level things up, and thats the way it stayed.

Coventry 2-1 Stoke
A very hard fought 3 points, but we had another bad start, David Thompson scoring from 18 yards after just 25 seconds, but Michael Mifsud scored to level it up on 20 mins and late on in the second half, new signing Stan Varga hit an abslutely fabulous free kick to win us the game. Varga's best game in a Coventry shirt. He had exceeded all expectations since his loan move from Sunderland.

OCTOBER FIXTURES:

Norwich A 3/11/07
Wolves H 6/11/07
Leicester A 10/11/07
Blackpool H 24/11/07

After an unbeaten month, celebrations were ended to get full focus in our first game of the month and a very tricky away trip at Norwich, in their ground, Carrow Road. Norwich were currently 17th in the league, and massively underachieving so far and they were off the back of a 2-1 defeat to the Baggies and were in desperate need of the pints to get their campaign back on track. It was bound to be tough, because they were going to come at us all guns blazing with the likes of Jamie Cureton and what has to be said, two Coventry ABSOLUTE LEGENDS!!! Dion Dublin and Darren Huckerby played for Norwich too.

Injuries now. 3 players were out. Stephen Hughes had a thigh strain, and Lee Martin had a knee injury knee injury, and Phil Bardsley was out with a pulled hamstring after the game with Stoke, in which he limped off.

Now to the team news. Just one change, and it was an enforced one too. Bardsley was out so Scott Dann played at right back, and Isaac Osbourne came back into the side on the bench.

So, we all arrived at Carrow Road, looking forward to the game as usual, as there is no point in playing if you don't enjoy it, so we were all upbeat after our great run. We got into the Norwich dressing rooms, and had our chat and out we went on task.

A half decent start, Norwich had the better of the first 10 minutes without creating much in the way of chances. But on 11 mins, Norwich got the first real chance, a free kick right on teh edge in the centre of the goal. Jamie Cureton stood up and shot, it was on target but he was denied by a good Marshall save and we cleared. On 20 mins, Norwich had another chance, Cureton was threaded through, but unusually for him his shot was poor and went some way wide. It was all Norwich. On 32 mins, we had our first crack of the whip, Cairo controlling a long ball from keeper Andy Marshall, brought it down and put Best through, he cut inside Otsembor and shot, but it was a poor effort, and it went well wide. On 46 mins, much against teh run of play, we got a goal right on half time. Fox lined up another free kick, passed short to tabb, who's shot was deflected but eventually found its way out to Mifsud, who thumped home from a very narrow angle. Great finish from Mifsud. 1-0. half time, and it wasn't the best performance so far, but we had defended well to prevent Norwich from taking the lead, and we had hit them on the break, so I was happy to a certain extent. At half time, I brought Thornton on for Tabb.
Just after half time, Daniel Fox, player of teh month, picked up his 5th yellow of the season, so he will be susended unfortunately. On 55 mins, we should have had a second, a superb ball firstly from cairo to Mifsud across the pitch, Mifsud controlled, ran and put an amazing through ball to Best but again, hsi shot was poor and he looked tired too so I brought him off for McKenzie, who went on the right and Mifsud went up front. On 66 mins, we had a glorious chance, Thiago did great work and put Mifsud clean through, one on one with the keeper, but his shot somehow went quite a bit wide. Awful finish. I put Mifsud back on the right, and McKenzie went up front. On 72 mins, I made my final change, Doyle on for Thiago. On 75 mins, we had another great chance, Cairo beat Otsebor on the left and was clean through, but he put his shot at teh keeper. I just hoped these misses wouldn't come back to haunt us. On 79 mins, we finally got the goal we deserved, Doyle won the ball superbly well in midfield, gave to McKenzie on the edge who turned and shot with his weaker right foot, but it still fizzed past David Marshall in the Norwich goal, superb substitutions there tough! Doyle and McKenzie linking up, and McKenzie scored against his old club. And o0n 86 mins, we made it certain, a poor clearance from David Marshall came to Mifsud who beat 2 players and smashed home to make it 3-0. That was the last noteable action of teh half, and what a performance. Not a brilliant first half, but we controlled the game in the second half and the subs I brought on did very well.

Mifsud proves his worth to you once again.

So 3 days after a fantastic win over Norwich, it was another home game, this time against local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves were currently 6th in the table although they only got their first win in 6 last agme, and against league leaders West Brom but before that they were having some very por results including a 3-1 loss to Ipswich and more noteably, a 1-0 loss to Colchester. But it was going to be tough.

Injuries now.2 players were out. Stephen Hughes returned from a thigh strain, but Lee Martin was still out, and Phil Bardsley was still out too.

Now to the team news. Just one change, Stephen Hughes returned from injury to replace Tabb in midfield.

We got to the Ricoh, looking forward to having the chance to extend our fantastic unbeaten run to 7, and we were confident of doing so, however Wolves would have been just as confident going into the game. It was bound to be a tough ride. We got into our home dressing rooms, had a chat and out we went.

A slow start, the first chance fell to Wolves, a long and dangerous effort from eastwood, but it was tipped over brilliantly. On 15 mins, Wolves had another chance, a Michael Kightly free kick hit the wall and fell to former Liverpool player Darren Potter, ho's shot from a tight angle went just over. And that was surprisingly the last proper action of the half! What a boring half! I brought Thornton on for Hughes for some young creativity.
Another broing start to the second half, the first chance came on 60 mins, and it was a free kick on the edge, Fox and Best were over it, Fox passed to Best who sot but his shot went a way wide. On 65 mins, Wolves had another long range effort saved, and it was Eastwood with the shot again from 35 yards. And on 71 mins, Wolves took the lead, a great cross from Kightly on the right and Eastwood headed home. I brought on Leon McKenzie for De Zeeuw. On 87 mins, we found the equaliser, a great ball into Best from Thornton, and Best smashed into the top corner. Great goal, 1-1 and I made my last change, Tabb on for Thiago. Thats was the last noteable action of the half. It was a very boring match to say the least and chances were few and far between, but we had come away with a solid point, and stretched our unbeaten run to 7 games. I was happy with a point.

After the stalemate against Wolves last week, it was on to fierce rivals Leicester. I knew that if we lost this game, the fans wouldn't be the least bit happy. In fact, its one of those games which could map out your future, so it had to be a win, and we were on very good form, unbeaten in the last 7 games, so I was sure we could do it. Leicester were currently 7th in the league and hadn't been in the best of form, losing to West Brom last game, but more noteably, thrashed 5-1 against relegation probables Colchester,

Injuries now.3 players were out. Stephen Hughes returned from a thigh strain, but Lee Martin was still out, and Phil Bardsley was still out too, and Daniel Fox was suspended.

Now to the team news. Unchanged except Tabb regained his place instead of Stephen Hughes, and Isaac Osbourne returned at left back becaus Fox was suspended.

We arrived at the Walkers Stadium (us City fans call it 'The Crisp Bowl) in a very good mood and looking to get one over the sworn enemy. A big turn out for the small trip to Leicester, we took 10000, no one wanted to lose and it was all set to be a very cagey and aggressive contest. We got to th dressing rooms, had our chat and out we went to finish the task.

A good start, straight away, we launched an attack down the right, Varga chipped over the defence, Cairo ran on to it and crossed to Thiago, who's headed was saved comfortably by Alnwick. On 10 mins, Leicester took the lead, Clemence free kick from 18 yards out in teh centre of goal, and it just crept in the corner. 1-0. On 31 mins, Leicester had another chance, Hume turned and shot from 12 yards, but tyeh effort was well tipped over by keeper Andy Marshall. On 36 mins, we had a chance, Thiago shot from 20 yards and again, it was tipped over by Alnwick and out for a corner. Half time, and it had been an awful first half, so boring and we hadn't created anything and whats more, we were 1-0 down. Rubbish, I made all my changes at half time, McKenzie on for Cairo, Thornton on fro De Zeeuw, Gray on for Best. Out we went for the second half, hoping for a much improved second half.
A good start, on 45 mins, Varga cleared and Thiago was through and he put his shot wide from about 6 yards,. GET IT ON TARGET YOU TW*T! THATS WHAT I PAY YOU FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! On 56 mins, we had another chance, Thornton lined up a free kick on the edge, he took it left footed, but it was just over the bar. On 68 mins, we wasted yet another chance, Gray was one on one with Alnwick, but his shot wasn't strong enough and was cleared off teh line. FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On 70 mins, we nearly scored, Mifsud unleashed a piledriver from 30 yards, but it was tipped over. Unlucky. On 80 mins, Leicester finished off thegame, Hume rounded the keeper and made it 2-0. We had played like a bunch of idiots. On 83 mins, we were handed a lifeline when McKenzie was brought down inside the area, defender Stan Varga stood up and put it right into teh top corner. 2-1. COME ON!!! Thats was it for the second half. A crap performance. I'd rather not say anymore.

Unlucky there Leicester are a good team played well tho

All I can say is, why on earth did Varga take your penalty? :p

Poor two games to be honest, dropped 5 points from them and in your position, that isn't too good. De Zeeuw and Ward were dreadful.

Yep, they were shocking, Varga is actually good at his set pieces! He scored a free kick a couple of weeks back! A winning free kick too! I'm glad I signed Varga, and I may well drop De Zeeuw and/or Ward for the next game, and put Scott Dann at centre back, because I think Dan Fox is back from ban next game. Good news though, Lee Martin is back soon! :D

COVENTRY LOAN TAARABT

Coventry City have taken young 18 year old Spurs winger Adel Taarabt on loan for 3 months. Taarabt was tol by manager Juande Ramos to go out and get some much needed match practice. Ramos believes that Taarabt will be a Premiership regular in 3 years at the most. Taarabt will wear the number 6 shirt.

MARTIN RETURNS

Coventry have recieved a MASSIVE boost going into their home game to Blackpool, their winger Lee Martin has returned from a bad injury, suffered in their 4-0 Cup defeat against Wigan.

24/11/07

After a poor result and performance away at Leicester, it was back home to face Blackpool. Blackpool were 2nd from bottom after promotion from League 1, and weren't fairing too well in a bigger pond, they weren't performing too well either with no win in 11, their last win was a great 4-2 win over Leicester. We had to fancy our chances.

Injuries now. Just the one casualty, with Phil Bardsley still out, but winger Lee Martin returned.

Now to the team news. A few changes from the defeat at Leicester, new loan signing Adel Taarabt started in midfield, and winger Lee Martin returned at left wing. De Zeeuw dropped out of the side after a poor performance and Daniel Fox returned from a ban.

We arrived at the Ricoh looking forawrd to the game, and it was nice to see Adel (Taarabt) getting to know the boys so shortly after his loan move from Spurs, he is a very nice lad and has a good head on his shoudlers, and he isn't one of those players who thinks he is better than everyone else. I couldn't wait to see him in acton, he looks a real talent. We got into the dressing rooms, had a chat about the game ahead and out we went for a very important match.

A good start, Taarabt recieved the ball in he centre of goal 40 yards out, played a neat one two with Martin, hit a great shot from 30 yards, which hit the top of the crossbar and out for a goal kick. Well played Taarabt. After a period of knocking the ball about, and not really posing a threat, on 36 mins, we won a free kick 20 yards out, Fox hit it with venom, and the ball seemed to go under the wall, off the post and in, what a free kick and it was 1-0. On 48 mins, we thought we'd got another, a great floated ball into the box from Scott Dann was nodded down by Best to Thiago who finished superbly, only for the flag to go up on the near side. Offsid, although it didn't look it. And that was the end to the half. It hadn't been that interesting, but we hadn't looked under any threat whatsoever, so I didn't change a thing at half time.
Just after the restart, we were dealt yet another injury blow, Lee Martin, just back from injury had to go off in what looked like quite a bad injury. The show had to go on so I brought on Kevin Thornton. On 74 mins, Blackpool had a great chance, Taylor-Fletcher nodded down a long free kick to Keigan Parker, who should have scored, but he strck wide of the mark. On 83 mins, I made my last changes, McKenzie and Cairo on for Best and Thiago. On 92 mins, we should have closed the game out, McKenzie was supebly put through on goal by Taarabt, his shot was saved, Mifsud decided to keep the ball in but his ball across the six uard box was gathered by the keeper. Full time was signalled, and it was another 3 points. We hadn't got a second goal, but it never felt needed, the defence was superbly led by Varga, and they never looked in doubt.

MARTIN OUT FOR 2-3 MONTHS

After just one game back from 1 bad injury, Lee Martin suffered another bad injury after he tore his groin in the 1-0 victory at Blackpool. Lee Martin said he was 'Gutted' to get another injury, and hoped to be back soon.

Well played against Blackpool. It's always going to be a struggle against a battling side like that especially at home. Shame about Martin though.
