SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY MAKE GIDDINGS BID

Sheffield Wednesday have had a ?100K bid for Coventry's young defender Stuart Giddings rejected. Sheffield Wednesday boss, Brian Laws, said he thought Giddings had a fantastic amount of talent. New Coventry boss Craig Tough said he is reluctant to let the youngster go, but if the right price was offered, he may well oblige. Giddings, 21, a former England U19 International said he wouldn't mind going out on loan to grab some much needed first team experience in a lower division.
how did you make that as i could use that for my stories

Ah, I just went on the club website, pressed print screen (top right of your keyboard) went in paint, pressed Ctrl+V at the same time, cut out the original writing and text, and replaced with new picture and text ;)

BARDSLEY RESUMES FULL TRAINING

Coventry City's Phil Bardsley has returned to full training followign an injury which has kept him out of a month's football. He will be fit to face Sheffield United on the 27th.

27/11/07

After a comfortable 1-0 victory over stugglers Blackpool, it was on to an away game with promotion hopefuls Sheffield Utd. United were 9th in the league in a good position to push on, and form of late had been okay, with 3 wins in 6.

Injuries now. Lee Martin was unfortunately on the sidelines again with a groin tear, but Bardsley returned.

Now to the team news. Just 3 changes, Bardsley returned at right back, and injured Lee Martin was replaced by Gray. And also, Leon Best was quite tired so I pushed Mifsud up front and put Cairo in for Best on the right.

FORM GUIDE: (league)
Sheff Utd: W L L W W L
Coventry: D W W D L W

We arrived at Bramall Lane with 3 points in our heads, and we weren't going to give all of the points up without a severe and hard fought fight. Sheffield nited weren't in great form and we had only lost 1 in 9 games, so we were firm favourites going in to it, be results are one thing, odds are another. We got into the dressing rooms fully focussed,a and otu we went to play our game.

A pretty bad start, Tabb took the ball off Montgomery in midfield, but then lost it straight away to Beattie, James Beattie saw Speed running in on the left, played a superb through ball to Speed, Speed struck first time with his left boot with some venom, but his shot was a couple of feet over. On 5 mins, Sheffield United had another chance, Montgomery shielded the ball from jay Tabb and Adel Taarabt, and played a great 30 yard ball across to Lee Hendrie on United's left hand side, he whipped a cross in and Rob Hulse attempted an acrobatic and ambitious bicycle kick effort, which went a few feet wide. Good effort though. A minute later, we had a chance, Taaravt recieved ba long ball from Marshall at the back, and he passed to Mifsud on the edge of the 18 yard box, and curled one round Paddy Kenny who was desperately scramblling across to get the ball, he missed it but was relieved to see it just go past the left hand post. Great effort from Michael Mifsud. On 13 mins, Sheff Utd had a great chance to bag a goal, Hendrie picked up on an awful pass from tabb, ran in and found Beattie all alone in front of goal, all he had to do really was hit the target, ut he went for power rather than placement and his shot went miles over. On 19 mins, we took the lead, we were awarded a free kick on the halfway line because Rob Hulse handled the ball, Elliott Ward floated the ball into teh box, Mifsud controlled, turned and shot straight into the bottom corner. Great goal. 1-0. On 21 mins, we nearly scored again, some great defending from Stan Varga saw the ball cleared all the way to Mifsud on the halfway line, Thiago made a decoy run taking two defenders off Mifsud, Mifsud ran towards the box, then took it outwide leaving Thiago alone then passed, Thiago took 2 touches and shot from 15 yards, Paddy Kenny parried and United cleared. On 26 mins, Taarabt showed some skilled to Kilgallon, Kilgallon got frustrated at how he couldn't get the ball off the youngster and gave a silly foul away, Fox stepped up and unleashed a curling shot, it looked liek it was going into the top corner, but it curled a bit too much and rustled the side netting. Unlucky. On 27 mins, we had a great chance to extend our lead, an Adel Taarabt shot was blocked, the rebound came to Tabb who was 12 yards out with a coupe of defenders artound him, he tried a curler, but it went a foot and a half wide. Unlucky again, but should have done better, at least work the keeper. On 30 mins, Sheffield United got the equaliser, a long ball from Kilgallon wasn't deelt with by the defence, Lee Hendrie picked the ball up and forced home from 18 yards. Poor defending really. On 33 mins, we had the chance to retake the lead, Mifsud was tripped on the edge of teh area by Gary Speed, Fox stepped up and smashed at goal, Kenny parried, Mifsud picked up the loose ball and put across the six yard box, but United hoofed clear. On 45 mins, we had yet another chance, Mifsud had a glaring chance to score, he hit sraight at Kenny, the ball came out to Thiago who's touch saw the ball gho out for a goal kick. Awful finishing. Half time, I was happy but not that happy, yet another defensive callamity had thrown away the lead, and attacking callamities had seen us fail to gain the lead back. At half time I brought Best on for Thiago.
A decent start to the half, on 52 mins, Gray robbed Montgomery of the ball and set Mifsud off who squared to Best who smashed at goal, but his shot hit the top of the bar and out. Good effort. On 61 mins, United nearly took the lead, a route one effort, saw Hulse put through after Ward let a long ball drop, Hulse was through but Marshall made a great save off his line. On 67 mins, we messed up some more defending, another long ball, Marshall came out to collect stupidly as the ball bounced over his head, Beattie picked up and scored. Thats one way to throw a game away. What a f*cking tw*t. FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On 80 mins, I made my changes, McKenzie on for Taarabt, and Thornton on for Tabb. Full time, and we had well and truly thrown the game away. F*cking defence is sh*t, about as good as having 4 Titus Bramble's, bunch of jokes. F*cking hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well your second loss in 3 games but hey you have had some great results over the year. Just make sure that you don't let your players completely drop in there morale otherwise you maybe back to square 1 and you certainly don't want that when you have had a good start.

Lets hope for a good December, and lets see where we are come Christmas, and after that I have my new arrivals coming, like Stancu who could be a big part in the second half of the season.

Sheff Utd. are one of the top teams in the division, don't get bogged down by the defeat man. Having taken charge of Sheff U for 5 years, they are a dominant side.

Keep the faith.

I'll give you a pretty basic tip, which some people use and some people don't that I have found to be pretty useful sometimes.

Create friendly cups between top level Brazilian or Argentinian clubs (if you can, try and get some Premier League teams in, but they often decline) and pay them fees of about 30K each to enter. You generally make 300-500K a cup, and hold a few of them a month and you make over a million, and you can request for more transfer budgets. However,on the down side, your players can get injured in the cups a lot more.

Sounds good, but not too realistic, and realistic is what I want my story to be. I one of those people who hates a game that is too easy and find that you win all the time. It sounds like a decent way to earn some money, but Coventry (in my story and real life) are quite well off after the recent takeover, and have quite a sum of budget to spend, so on the money part, I'm okay ta :p

NOVEMBER 2007 OVERVIEW: COVENTRY CITY

My 4th month in charge didn't go as well as I would have hoped. 2 defeats was more defeats than I would have settled for at the start of the month, but not everything goes to plan. 2 defeats to Sheffield United, and more embarrasingly, Leicester, but also wins against Norwich and Hull made the month a bit sweeter and a good draw against Wolves was a bonus point if I'm honest. Wolves had a very good month too, with 4 wins and a draw (against us) in their month, their manager Mick McCarthy picked up Manager of the Month and their striker Freddy Eastwood (who scored against us) got player of the month. Young player of the month went to West Brom's young striker Ishmael Miller.

Norwich 0-3 Coventry
A great start to the month, Norwich is a hard place to bring points away from and we did it in style. A superb 3-0 victory was earned with goals from Michael Mifsud (2) either side of half time, and one from former Norwich star Leon McKenzie.

Coventry 1-1 Wolves
A great point if I'm honest, I didn't think I would get it, especially when Wolves took the lead on 72 mins, through Freddy Eastwood, but on 88mins, we got a vital equaliser through hitman Leon Best to grab us a muchly celebrated point against the in form side.

Leicester 2-1 Coventry
A truly awful performance. We didn't create a thing and we defending like muppets. An early Stephen Clemence goal gave Leicester the platform to get another, and they did on 81 mins, through overweight Iain Hume, we got a hopeful penalty on 84 mins, and Stan Varga scored it, however hope was all it was as we didn't create a lot after that.

Coventry 1-0 Blackpool

A comfortable victory, and it never looked in doubt, we were unlucky not to get more, but the vital goal was scored by Daniel Fox with a superb free kick, but the game took a turn for the worse, when in Lee Martin's first game back after a lengthy lay off, Martin went off again and it was later found out that he had torn his groin, and was to be out for a further 2 or 3 months. Gutted for the lad.

Sheffield United 2-1 Coventry
Another shocker of a game, we started well and we took the lead in the 20th minute through a great drive by Michael Mifsud but from that point onwards it was all Sheffield United, and two very silly goals with laughable mistakes saw the game thrown away.

DECEMBER FIXTURES:

Bristol City H 1/12/07
Burnley A 4/12/07
Cardiff H 8/12/07
Scunthorpe A 15/12/07
Crystal Palace H 22/12/07
Watford H 26/12/07
Colchester A 29/12/07

Huge fixture list for the Christmas month. An unbeaten month here would be quite something.
Game against Bristol City up shortly. Hopefully.

League table:

So then coming up to half way in the season I see. Your in a good position to put up a genuine title attack but you have to improve your squad to get as good as West Brom. Perharps a new goalkeeper because you have conceded the most in the top 6 but still not bad and I do believe that you can get a better keeper than Marshall. Overall though your looking good. Maybe you should have became manager rather than Chris Coleman! :p

Nah, we all love Cookie Coleman at Cov. Definately the right man for the job, and he has took our underperforming pathetic excuse for a squad, and made everyone perform to their best ability. Also he has sorted our defence right out, when Iain Dowie was in charge we had the worst goal difference in the league and couldn't keep a clean sheet to save our lives, mainly because he chose bloody De Zeeuw every game who was consistently useless. And Coleman has dropped him and put in our youngest players in the defence (Osbourne 20, Ward 24, Dann 20, Fox 21) instead of De Zeeuw 37 and Hall 30, and the young guns have kept us 5 clean sheets in a row at home and have conceded very few goals. He really is the best manager outside the Premiership. As for my story so far, its going well, and we obviously have Stancu arriving soon so yet more goals will be coming shortly ;) and as for Marshall, he is quality! He makes some remarkable saves. The majority of our goals conceded are definately down to laughable defensive errors (take teh Sheff Utd game for example), so I don't think we need a keeper, and Varga has done a great job since coming in. Perhaps Ward needs a rest, might bring in Dann... No Bristol City game today I'm afraid, as the footie is on soon. Sorry about that.

Not great month there, probably your worst in charge. Blackpool win was expected but the losses to Leicester and Sheffield United are big defeats. Defence, like you said, really needs to improve...

Town fall away, gotta beat Col U on Dec 29, a win @ Layer Road is really something.

Sorry about the no updates in 2 days, but I've been a bit tied up! Sorry guys! Bristol City game up very soon I promise!

1/12/07

So, in the first game of the last month of 2007, it was a tricky home game against Bristol City. Bristol City were currently 13th in the league and very happy at how things were going since their promotion from Coca Cola League One last season, where they finished behind Scunthorpe who were just below them in 15th.

Injuries now. Lee Martin again was the only casualty for the game.

Now to the team news. A few changes, Thornton started alongside Jay Tabb in the centre of midfield, whilst Adel Taarabt fropped to the bench, Thiago started alongside Mifsud again up top, and Leon McKenzie started at left midfield in place of Julian Gray. After a few poor shows, I decided to keep the faith with Elliott Ward, but I have told him he may be rested if he keeps having poor games.

We arrived at the fantastic Ricoh Arena, again thinking about the poor show at Sheffield United, and thinking anything was better than that. We knew we had to get three points here, or else the fans may well be on our backs and when a bad run starts, its like trying to get out of quick sand. We got into the dressing room and we spoke of tactics and who to watch out for etc. and out we went.

A decent start, we got a goal on 8 mins, McKenzie put Thiago through who finished with ease but Thiago was miles offside needlessly. Great chance to make a good start. n 14 mins, we nearly scored again, Adriano Basso made a complete hash of a clearance, and the ball fell to Tabb who put Mifsud trough, but Basso saved to his right. On 24 mins, we won a penalty, Thornton was tripped in the area by Ivan Sproule. Ellery Cairo stepped up, and slotted the ball cooly home to make it 1-0. Great start to the game, I just hoped we could keep it up. On 26 mins, we nearly scored again, McKenzie played a great ball through the middle to Thiago, who did the right thing and tried to find the far corner, but it trickled wide. Unlucky. On 31 mins, Bristol had their first chance, Lee Trundle had a free kick just out side the area, it was deflected goalwards and Marshall did fantastically well to adjust his position and save it, the rebound came to Sproule but his shot was weak and it was comfortably gathered by Marshall. Half time, and I was pleased at what I'd seen, but I knew we would need to score another. No changes at HT, straight in.
A good start to the half, Marshall found Thiago with a long ball, and Thiago controlled and passed to Mifsud, who's shot wasd tipped out for a corner by Basso. On 67 mins, we had a chance, Mifsud beat three Bristol players and unleashed a fierce low drive, with smashed onto the post and out for a Bristol throw in. Unlcuky. On 72 mins, I brought Taarabt, Osbourne and Gray on for Mckenzie, Tabb and Cairo. On 77 mi, Bristol got an undeserved equaliser, Eliott tapped home a deflected shot. On 80 mins, we had another glorious oppertunity, Osbourne pulled the ball back to Thiago, who shot straight a the keeper from 6 yards. Unbelievable waste. Full time, and what a stupid waste of 2 points. We had yet again thrown the game away with missed chances.
