Apologies, havent been following closely these days but have people found gameplay has improved recently, assume there's been a new patch? Started a new tour last night of England v India, lost toss, they chose to bat, only played a few overs so far (about 10), and found myself.....throughly enjoying it???? Small sample size yes but....genuinely excited to play it again later!

Nah mate it still shite.

I fired it up again last week to see if anything had changed.

Nerfed all the spin sliders...tested on a grassy Edgbaston deck England v India.

Picked no spinner...bowled Root and Bethell.

India 21-6 then 47 all out - legend difficulty, no drift, little to no spin, no flight etc.

Games a joke...and '26 will be a total copy and paste replica.

I’d counter this and say it’s certainly not a “joke” it has its issues but I can certainly get a very good Test match out of it and have had plenty.

AI putting up 431 in first innings. Spinner did nothing until the end. Variety of wickets (all types)

AI knocking it about with a variety of shots.

I think grass pitches are knackered for spinners (although I never use them)

And I think if people are using the bowling HUD and hitting perfect perfect every time it causes issues.
 
Played a test today and had a pretty good time. I found that the AI seemed to bowl more to its field than the last time I played. It was still way to easy to just hammer off drives but once i lost a few wickets doing dumb shit the AI really seemed to pin me down (this was great).

Bowling was fun at first because the AI was actually defending well and playing situational shots but it became impossible to get any LBWs or caught behinds. All my fast bowling wickets came from fast edges to 3rd slip or inside edges that hit the wickets. Unfortunately 9 of my 20 wickets still came from spin even though I was only bowling 12-15 overs per innings.

The biggest issue was that at least twice an innings my player would wander from his crease well after the ball was fielded and ran out. Even if I hammered O (Ps5 controls) the player would still wander and I'd have to save scrub.

Oh and the commentary is seemingly worse? I think every single thing Atherton said did not happen. So many "that's hit hard but right to the fielder) that were actually 4s.

Anyway, I really feel like a few tweaks here and there could make 25/26 significantly better. An AI that exclusively bowled to their field would make a huge difference.
I also hope they make bowling more dynamic. Right now it's not hard to get an ideal ball and so there aren't really jaffas just random shots that the AI seem to miss. I wonder if they could do some type of risk/reward button combo that if you hit you increased the chance of a wicket but if you missed resulted in a likely boundary.
 
I just don't bowl in tests anymore, ODI and T20 it's okay, because there are genuine ways to restrict the AI's runscoring which can lead to wickets. So at least in LO games it's slightly dynamic, but test cricket is just not engaging for me anymore with the ball. I still bat all the way through, and I do feel like the AI has got better at bowling to its fields.

Did you notice my beloved mentalities mattering at all? There do look to be some differences in run rates with the various batsmen.

Assuming you’re talking to me. How you doing pal?

Mentalities wise yes.. I wouldn’t always say it translates into strike rate.. there’s are differences but definitely stroke play. Pant smashed 3 sixes etc.

But I have reskilled and for him bumped up power to the top.

If you give me a little I’ll stick the settings in here.

I can not stress enough the importance of not using the bowling HUD. Will take getting used to to stop the no balls but I hardly bowl many any more at all. Only when I’m not focussed.

Also I play as you would see on the TV I’m not bringing Bethell on to bowl spin in the 5th over.

Think bashir came on for 5 over before lunch and racked up about 27 overs in total.
 
One minor addition I would like which is already existent in other sports games (madden) is the ability to share sliders online through the academy/community downloads.
 
Just downloaded a patch. 1.13GB. Xbox. Updated to v0.2.5425.

Not sure if I am late to the "party" or if this is something new.

I also got it. It is different from yesterday's patch it seems. Don't know what has changed
